Object description

Mansion of four storeys: a ground floor, first and second floor and an attic storey with tower. The facade surfaces are constructed from a combination of stucco and yellow brick on a hardstone plinth. The stucco is largely in the form of cassettes; the masonry is in shortened half-bond. The front roof slope is pitched upwards. The left part of the facade shows a tower-like projection. The ground floor has the entrance section on the left side. Facade sections in brick under main entablature with stuccoed rosettes on the frieze and tooth mouldings on the cornice. Roof dormer with semi-circular window and horseshoe arch. On the left side of the main floor a window with double casement window and fanlight. Further cornice sections and brick decoration. Tower structure with semi-circular window with double casement window and semi-circular fanlight under Serliana. Transition from rectangle to octagon. Onion motif in stucwork. Cornice above which stuccoed and moulded pediments and horseshoe arches. Octagonal continuous cornice above which arcade frieze on half-columns with worked nodus, volute-like base and teethed capital. Tooth, profile and knop moulding. Bulbous roof on which Orthodox cross with moon and radiating sun and guy-wires.
