Inleiding
HERENHUIS, genaamd Frankrijk en deel uitmakend van het complex De Zeven Landen, ontworpen door Tj. Kuipers in 1894.
N.B. In 1948 werd in opdracht van mw. A. Jaarsma de Lange de oorspronkelijke veranda aan de achterzijde verwijderd.
Object-omschrijving
Herenhuis met wit gepleisterde en driezijdig uitgebouwde en sterk horizontaal en verticaal gelede voorgevel op hardstenen plint. Verticale geleding door twee gestelde hoekpilasters of lisenen. Het pand bestaat uit een beganegrond, twee verdiepingen en kapverdieping. De voorzijde van het dak wordt gevormd door een steil schilddak gedekt met shingles. Verder een plat dak. Op de beganegrond een toegangspartij met oorspronkelijke deur waarboven de landsnaam 'Frankrijk'. Verder twee vensters met kruiskozijnen. Op de hoofdverdieping drie vensterpartijen met dubbele openslaande deuren met dubbel bovenlicht, en een klein balcon, uitgevoerd als een vrije uitwerking van het fenêtre à terre met Franse balcons. Op de verdieping drie vensterpartijen met draairamen en bovenlichten. A-jour gestucte borstwering met guirlandes, cirkelvormen en balusters. De symmetrie wordt versterkt door de uniforme geleding van de vensters van de onderscheiden verdie- pingen. Bovendorpels met geprofileerde kroonlijst. Brede gepleisterde lijst met uitkragende band. Middendeel van de gevel zet zich voort in een dakkapel, waarboven nog een kleine aedicula met pilasters, arcadeboog, archivolt, kroonlijst en fronton.

Object description
Gentleman's house with white plastered and three-sided built-out and strongly horizontally and vertically articulated front facade on hard stone plinth. Vertical articulation through two set corner pilasters or lisenes. The building consists of a ground floor, two storeys and an attic storey. The front of the roof is formed by a steep hipped roof covered with shingles. Further a flat roof. On the ground floor an entrance section with original door above which the country name 'France'. Further two windows with cross windows. On the principal storey three window sections with double casement doors with double fanlight, and a small balcony, executed as a free interpretation of the fenêtre à terre with French balconies. On the storey three window sections with casement windows and fanlights. Openwork stucced breast parapet with garlands, circular forms and balusters. The symmetry is reinforced by the uniform articulation of the windows of the individual storeys. Upper sills with profiled cornice. Broad plastered band with projecting ribbon.
