Inleiding REGULATEURSHUIS, deel uitmakend van het complex van de voormalige gemeentelijke gasfabriek, vrijstaand gesitueerd op het terrein van het Gemeentelijk Energiebedrijf aan de Bloemstraat en Bloemsingel, gebouwd in 1892 als regulateurshuis naar ontwerp van de Groninger architect K.H. Holthuis in Chalet-stijl. Vanaf 1922 fungeerde het gebouw als portiersloge van het op hetzelfde terrein gevestigde electriciteitsbedrijf. Boven de ingang bevindt zich een tegeltableau uit 1954, aangeboden door het personeel naar aanleiding van het 100-jarig bestaan. Met twee bedrijfshallen vormt het regulateurshuis het enig overgebleven restant van de gasfabriek. De lage aanbouw aan de achterzijde van later datum valt buiten de bescherming. In het achter een modern systeemplafond schuilgaand plafond bevindt zich in het midden een gietijzeren ventilatierooster. In de topgevels bevinden zich rondvensters, die een rondboogvormige, gepleisterde omlijsting hebben gekregen. De voorgevel bevat twee openslaande bedrijfsdeuren met bovenlicht. Het oorspronkelijke mezzanine-venster hierboven is dichtgezet met een tegeltableau uit 1954. De smeedijzeren muurankers hebben de vorm van een lelie. REGULATOR HOUSE, forming part of the complex of the former municipal gas factory, standing freely situated on the site of the Municipal Energy Company at Bloemstraat and Bloemsingel, built in 1892 as a regulator house after a design by Groningen architect K.H. Holthuis in Chalet style. From 1922 onwards it served as a porter's lodge of the electricity company established on the same site. Above the entrance is a tile tableau from 1954, offered by the staff on the occasion of the 100th anniversary. Description
The very characteristic little building is constructed on a Greek cross and has one storey and a mezzanine floor under a composite roof (truncated, slightly constricted hipped roof and gabled roofs), covered with grey Frisian barrel tile. The recessed narrow façades are built of reddish-brown brick and have pilaster-like lesenes at the corners. The façades are provided with a plastered plinth and enlivened with white plaster bands. The window openings consist of single and double windows, which like the blind windows are closed with segmental arches and headers. In the top gables there are round windows, which have been given a round-arch plastered surround. The front façade contains two opening industrial doors with fanlight. The original mezzanine window above it is sealed with a tile tableau from 1954. The wrought-iron wall anchors have the form of a fleur-de-lis. The top gables are provided with decoratively worked wooden roof finials with overhang, in which round arches are incorporated. On the ridges of the substantial overhanging roof with openwork carved wooden gutter line a gracefully worked wrought-iron railing is placed. On the ridge above the entrance is a wrought-iron weather vane, in which the year 1892 is incorporated.
