Inleiding HERENHUIS, gesitueerd in de nagenoeg gesloten, oostelijke gevelwand van de Munnekeholm op de plaats van een forse rooilijnsprong, waardoor de voorgevel naar het zuiden is gericht, gebouwd omstreeks 1870 in een rijk versierde, eclectische bouwstijl, karakteristiek voor de architectuur uit het laatste kwart van de negentiende eeuw. Het gebouw is met het aangrenzende achterhuis thans in gebruik als kantoor en opleidingscentrum. Omschrijving Het omvangrijke gebouw bestaat uit twee delen. Het zuidelijk deel is drie raamtraveeën breed en telt twee bouwlagen en een mezzanine-verdieping onder een dwarsgeplaatst schilddak. Van het noordelijk deel staat de langsgevel van zes traveeën breed in de rooilijn van de Munnekeholm. Dit deel telt twee bouwlagen onder een zadeldak. De gevels worden afgesloten door een gootlijst met tandlijst, die een geprofileerde bakgoot draagt. Op de nokken van het schilddak staan twee houten pilonen. De westelijke gevel is geheel gestuct en grotendeels voorzien van schijnvoegen. De begane grond wordt afgesloten door een geprofileerde stuc cordonlijst. De deuropeningen hebben een omlijsting van geprofileerd stuc lijstwerk en worden bekroond door een architraaf. De rechtgesloten T-vensters zijn voorzien van geprofileerd stuc lijstwerk met sluitstenen. De verdiepingsvensters van de zuidgevel zijn bekroond met tympanen, die versierd zijn met guirlandes en rolwerk. Introduction MANSION, situated in the almost closed, eastern facade wall of the Munnekeholm at the place of a substantial building-line setback, whereby the front facade is oriented towards the south, built circa 1870 in a richly decorated, eclectic building style, characteristic of the architecture from the last quarter of the nineteenth century. The building, together with the adjoining rear building, is currently in use as an office and training centre. Description The substantial building consists of two parts. The southern part is three window bays wide and comprises two storeys and a mezzanine floor under a cross-placed hipped roof. Of the northern part, the long facade of six bays wide stands in the building line of the Munnekeholm. This part comprises two storeys under a gabled roof. The facades are closed off by a gutter-line with tooth-frieze, which carries a moulded lead gutter. On the ridges of the hipped roof stand two wooden pylons. The western facade is entirely stuccoed and largely provided with false joints. The ground floor is closed off by a moulded stucco string course. The door openings have a frame of moulded stucco moulding and are crowned by an architrave. The straight-headed T-windows are provided with moulded stucco moulding with keystones. The storey windows of the south facade are crowned with tympana, which are decorated with garlands and scrollwork. The gutter-line runs around the southern building part and is interrupted in the front facade by the windows of the mezzanine floor. In the remaining moulding sections rectangular blind panels are placed. The short side facade of one bay wide of the southern part contains on both storeys two rectangular blind panels with moulded stucco moulding. The rear facade and the side and rear facades of the rear building are flat plastered. The rear facade of the main building contains on the ground floor hinged doors and a straight-headed window with fanlights, which are provided with a diamond-shaped glazing-bar pattern. The rear facade of the rear building contains on the ground floor four straight-headed T-windows and two T-windows in the likewise plastered cabin. Evaluation MANSION, erected in a remarkably designed eclectic building style, typical of the architecture from the last quarter of the nineteenth century, of general importance because of its cultural-historical and architectural-historical value and because of the architectural integrity of the exterior. Moreover, the building forms, by its striking siting, an important architectural element in the spatial articulation of the Munnekeholm in Groningen.
