Inleiding GASTHUIS, genaamd Gerarda Gockinga Gasthuis, gesitueerd evenwijdig aan de zuidzijde van de Grote Rozenstraat, gebouwd in 1870 en uitgebreid in 1882 en 1891, in een ambachtelijk-traditionele bouwtrant. De woningen zijn thans nog steeds bewoond. Omschrijving De woningen zijn opgetrokken op rechthoekige plattegronden en tellen één bouwlaag onder een zadeldak. De woningen zijn drie en vier traveeën breed, herkenbaar aan de schoorsteenkoppen op de daknok. De voorgevels zijn opgemetseld uit roodbruine baksteen. In de voorgevels zijn grote vensters geplaatst op een lage borstwering. De kozijnen hebben afgeronde hoeken met rollagen. De schuifvensters bezitten een houten roedeverdeling (vijf x drie). De deurkozijnen zijn smaller dan de vensters en voorzien van kalf, paneeldeur en gepaard bovenlicht. Op alle kozijnen is een rollaag gemetseld. Een gang tussen twee bouwvolumes, leidend naar een achtererf, is afgesloten met een vlakke schroten deur met kozijn, waarop metselwerk tot goothoogte werd opgetrokken. Boven deze deur is een natuurstenen naamplaat aangebracht met de stichtingsdatum. De bouwvolumes zijn afgedekt met zadeldaken, voorzien van een geglazuurde Hollandse pan. Aan de langsgevels zijn drie eenvoudige bakgoten met lijst aangebracht. Introduction ALMSHOUSE, called Gerarda Gockinga Almshouse, situated parallel to the south side of the Grote Rozenstraat, built in 1870 and extended in 1882 and 1891, in a craft-traditional building manner. A passage between two building volumes, leading to a rear courtyard, is closed with a flat boarded door with frame, over which brickwork was built up to gutter height. Above this door a natural stone nameplate is mounted with the foundation date. The building volumes are covered with gabled roofs, provided with glazed Holland tiles. On the long facades three simple brick gutters with a list are installed.
