Inleiding TRANSFORMATORHUISJE, vrijstaand gesitueerd op de splitsing van twee straten en de zichtassen daarvan tegenover het Noorderplantsoen. Het sluit een klein bouwblok af, dat wordt begrensd door de Nieuwe Ebbingestraat, de Korreweg en een naamloos tussenstraatje. Het is gebouwd in 1925 in opdracht van het Gemeentelijk Energiebedrijf naar ontwerp van Gemeentewerken (S.J. Bouma) in de stijl van de Amsterdamse School. Het gebouwtje is thans nog in gebruik als transformatorhuisje. Omschrijving Het gebouw is opgetrokken op een rechthoekige plattegrond en heeft een paraboolvormige kap, belegd met rode ongeglazuurde Tuiles du Nord. In de kopgevels is het metselwerk in een diagonaalsgewijs metselverband met een naad in keperverband geplaatst op een uitkragende tandlijst. Het uit roodbruine baksteen opgetrokken muurwerk op staand gemetselde plint steekt iets over. De deuren zijn van plaatstaal en hebben een eenvoudige,geometrische versiering met nagels. De topgevels zijn versierd met een smeedijzeren motief met de letters GEB in een sierlijke Amsterdamse School-typografie. Waardering Transformatorhuisje, ontworpen in een zorgvuldig gedetailleerde Amsterdamse School-stijl door de bekende Groninger architect S.J. Bouma, van algemeen belang vanwege zijn architectuurhistorische waarde en zijn gaafheid en vanwege de stilistische kwaliteit en de verzorgde uitvoering van het ontwerp.

Description
Introduction TRANSFORMER HOUSE, independently situated on the junction of two streets and the sight axes thereof opposite Noorderplantsoen. It closes off a small building block, which is bounded by Nieuwe Ebbingestraat, Korreweg and an unnamed minor street. It was built in 1925 on behalf of the Municipal Energy Company according to design by Municipal Works (S.J. Bouma) in the style of the Amsterdam School. The little building is still in use as a transformer house. Description The building is constructed on a rectangular floor plan and has a parabolic roof, covered with red unglazed Tuiles du Nord. In the gable walls the masonry is placed in a diagonal bonding pattern with a joint in herringbone bond on an overhanging dentil course. The masonry, constructed in reddish-brown brick on upright-laid plinth, projects slightly. The doors are of sheet steel and have a simple, geometric decoration with nails. The apex gables are decorated with a wrought-iron motif with the letters GEB in an ornate Amsterdam School typography.
