Inleiding WOONHUIS, aan drie zijden vrijstaand gesitueerd met grote voortuin en oud geboomte en teruggelegd ten opzichte van de rooilijn aan de oostzijde van de Petrus Campersingel, gebouwd in circa 1885 als woonhuis bij een reeds lang niet meer bestaande, achtergelegen fabriek in een eclectische stijl. Het interieur is gemoderniseerd en van ondergeschikt belang. De aanbouw aan de achtergevel is van later datum en komt niet voor rijksbescherming in aanmerking. Het gebouw is thans nog in gebruik als woonhuis. Omschrijving Het gebouw is opgetrokken op een vierkante plattegrond uit rode baksteen, onderkelderd en telt één bouwlaag onder een schilddak, belegd met een zwarte, platte Friese pan. De gevels worden afgesloten door een houten kroonlijst, die een geprofileerde houten bakgoot draagt. De symmetrisch opgezette voorgevel is vijf traveeën breed en heeft lisenen op de hoeken. Het middenrisaliet bevat een aardige bewerkte, dubbele houten paneeldeur met glas in een ondiep portiek, omkaderd door stuc lijstwerk en aan de bovenzijde versierd met rankwerk. Boven de ingang bevindt zich een drie traveeën brede uitgebouwde kajuit met in het midden een balkon met vernieuwd ijzeren hekwerk. De vensters hebben afgeronde bovenhoeken en geprofileerd stuc lijstwerk en kuiven. De keldervensters hebben geprofileerd stuc lijstwerk. De zuidelijke zijgevel bevat vier soortgelijke vensters als in de voorgevel met geprofileerd stucwerk en kuiven waarvan twee nog de oorspronkelijke zes-ruits roedeverdeling bezitten. De indeling van de deels grijs gestucte achtergevel is oorspronkelijk en bevat een venster en een dubbele paneeldeur. Introduction DWELLING HOUSE, standing freely on three sides situated with large front garden and old trees and set back from the building line on the east side of the Petrus Campersingel, built around 1885 as a dwelling house adjacent to a long-defunct, rear-situated factory in an eclectic style. Description The building is erected on a square floor plan of red brick, with a cellar, and has one storey under a hipped roof, covered with black, flat Frisian tile. The facades are finished with a wooden cornice, which carries a profiled wooden gutter. The symmetrically arranged front facade is five bays wide and has pilaster strips at the corners. The central projection contains a nicely worked, double wooden panelled door with glass in a shallow porch, framed by stucco moulding and decorated at the top with scrollwork. Above the entrance is a three-bay wide projecting glazed room with a balcony in the middle with renewed iron railings. The windows have rounded upper corners and profiled stucco moulding and hoods. The cellar windows have profiled stucco moulding. The southern side facade contains four similar windows to those in the front facade with profiled stucco work and hoods, two of which still have the original six-pane glazing bars. The layout of the partly grey-stuccoed rear facade is original and contains a window and a double panelled door. Valuation MANSION, built in an eclectic architectural style, characteristic of architecture from the last quarter of the nineteenth century, of general importance because of its cultural-historical and architectural-historical value because of the architectural integrity of the exterior. Moreover, the building by its special location forms a valuable architectural element in the surroundings of the Petrus Campersingel in Groningen.
