Inleiding
Houten KLAPBRUG van een type dat waarschijnlijk rond 1870 door Rijkswaterstaat werd ontworpen. Het is een van de weinige resterende houten klapbruggen in Drenthe.
Omschrijving
In sobere en functionele stijl uitgevoerde houten klapbrug waarvan poort en hamei versterkt zijn met een constructie van ijzeren trekstangen. De bediening verloopt via ijzeren kettingen (handbediening). De met houten dek uitgevoerde val is geconstrueerd op ijzeren I-profielen. De brughoofden zijn van hout.
Waardering
Klapbrug van industrieel-archeologisch, typologisch, waterstaatkundig en stedebouwkundig belang alsook van belang voor de geschiedenis van de Rijkswerkinrichting Veenhuizen. Tevens functioneel onderdeel van het uitzonderlijk waardevolle complex Veenhuizen. Gaaf en zeldzaam.
