Inleiding
SLACHTHUIS gebouwd in 1891 in opdracht van het Ministerie van Justitie, naar ontwerp van W.C. Metzelaar. Het gebouw staat op eenstedebouwkundig bepalende plek en sluit aan bij de bebouwingsschaal rond het oude Tweede Gesticht.
Omschrijving
Haaks op de weg gelegen, een bouwlaag tellend onderkelderd gebouw op rechthoekige plattegrond. Het deels onderkelderde gebouw is uit baksteen opgetrokken, in een sobere en functionele stijl en wordt gedekt door een zadeldak met oud-hollandse pan; staafankers; windveren; goot op klossen. De symmetrisch ingedeelde voorgevel heeft een licht getoogde, dubbele inrijdeur. In de zuidelijke zijgevel drie en in de noordelijke zijgevel vijf getoogde 12-ruits ramen met vast kalf. Twee getraliede kelderramen.
