Inleiding
Dubbel herenhuis, in oorsprong genaamd villa Blanda, dat het linkerdeel vormt van het vrijstaande, op een duintop gesitueerde bouwblok Antwerpsestraat 6/8, 10/12 en 14/16, in 1886-1887 gebouwd door architect Johannes Hendriks Beetsma in eclectische bouwstijl. Het zijn de oudste herenhuizen in het Belgisch Park. Omschrijving
Op een duintop gebouwd dubbel herenhuis op rechthoekige plattegrond, bestaande uit een souterrain en twee bouwlagen onder een met shingles gedekt, afgeknot omlopend schilddak, drie vensterassen breed. De bakstenen gevels zijn aan de voorzijde geleed door geblokte (hoek)lisenen. Een geprofileerde cordonlijst scheidt de eerste en tweede bouwlaag. Het gepleisterde hoofdgestel is gekornist en voorzien van panelen in het fries. Op het dak zijn eenvoudige dakkapellen met pilasteromlijsting aangebracht.
Voor de eerste bouwlaag van de voorgevel is een bordes met een houten balustrade gesitueerd, rustend op gepleisterde pijlers. Een houten trap in het midden biedt toegang tot het bordes. De T- vormige stolpramen bezitten glas-in-lood bovenlichten.
Het middendeel van de linkerzijgevel is licht risalerend. Hiertegen bevindt zich een bordes met gemetselde balustrade waar de beide ingangen zijn gesitueerd. Toegang tot het bordes biedt een evenwijdig aan de zijgevel geplaatste trap. Boven het bordes bevindt zich een balkon met balustrade, rustend op houten pijlers. Aan het achterste deel van de zijgevel is een rechthoekig bouwblok met een trap naar het balkon boven het bordes. Ter linkerzijde zijn een garage en een berging aangebouwd. Het rechterdeel van de achtergevel is als forse risaliet uitgebouwd. Links daarvan bevindt zich op de eerste bouwlaag een serre met glas-in-lood bovenlichten en een gesneden sierrand aan de bovenrand. Daarboven is een balkon. Het interieur bevat onder meer in eclectische stijl geornamenteerde stucplafonds, schoorsteenmantels en een trappenhuis uit de bouwtijd.
De tuin wordt van de straat gescheiden door een gietijzeren hek op een lage bakstenen voet, voorzien van vernieuwde gemetselde hekpijlers met dekplaat.
Waardering
Dubbel herenhuis van architectuurhistorische waarde als representatief voorbeeld van eclectische architectuur en als oudste bebouwing van het Belgisch Park; hoofdvorm, detaillering en materiaalgebruik zijn in- en uitwendig goed bewaard. Als onderdeel van een bouwblok in een ontwerp van drie dubbele herenhuizen heeft het ensemblewaarde.

Double townhouse, originally named villa Blanda, which forms the left part of the detached building block situated on a dune top at Antwerpsestraat 6/8, 10/12 and 14/16, built in 1886-1887 by architect Johannes Hendriks Beetsma in eclectic style. These are the oldest townhouses in Belgisch Park.
Description
Built on a dune top, a double townhouse on rectangular ground plan, consisting of a basement and two storeys under a shingle-covered, clipped perimeter hipped roof, three window bays wide. The brick facades are articulated on the front by rusticated (corner) pilaster strips. A profiled cordon moulding separates the first and second storey. The rendered main entablature is corniced and provided with panels in the frieze. Simple roof dormers with pilaster frames have been placed on the roof.
In front of the first storey of the front facade is a raised platform with a wooden balustrade, resting on rendered pillars. A wooden stair in the middle provides access to the platform. The T-shaped hinged windows have leaded glass fanlights.
The central section of the left side facade is slightly projecting. Against this is a platform with a plastered balustrade where both entrances are situated. Access to the platform is provided by a stair placed parallel to the side facade. Above the platform is a balcony with balustrade, resting on wooden pillars. At the rear part of the side facade is a rectangular building block with a stair to the balcony above the platform. On the left side a garage and a storage room have been built on. The right part of the rear facade is extended as a substantial projection. To the left of this is on the first storey a conservatory with leaded glass fanlights and carved ornamental edging at the top edge. Above this is a balcony. The interior contains inter alia stucco ceilings ornate in eclectic style, chimneypieces and a stairwell from the period of construction.
The garden is separated from the street by a cast-iron gate on a low brick base, provided with renewed plastered gate pillars with coping.
Evaluation
Double townhouse of architectural-historical value as a representative example of eclectic architecture and as the oldest building of Belgisch Park; main form, detailing and use of material are well preserved both internally and externally. As part of a building block in a design of three double townhouses it has ensemble value.
