The register's description

Designed in 1927-28 as a trial for industrialised building by G.Th. Rietveld on commission of the family Van der Vuurst de Vries, a three-sided detached garage with dwelling above - originally for a chauffeur - built on a roughly square ground plan with a steel skeleton with I-profiles and originally covered with black and white enamelled concrete panels of three by three metres, covered with perforated metal plates which by means of steel bands along the edges were connected to each other in such a way that a roughly cubic building block was created with on the upper storey on the SW side a bay window and on the roof an elongated skylight.

The entrance is located on the left in the front facade (SE), with on the right the double sliding doors for the garage, above which on the right a six-pane window with square subdivision is positioned; otherwise the facade is closed. The SW facade is broken on the right by the bay window - with in total five square windows, turned at the corners - and in the middle three windows placed one above the other and on the left below by a six-pane window.

The NW facade originally contained a double window on the left. The NE facade is entirely blank due to the adjoining buildings.

Residential house, due to its overall architectural and technical design, siting and place within the architect's oeuvre - despite altered colour scheme, closed fanlight in the SW facade and the application of heavily projecting canopies - is of general importance as an example of the Dutch contribution to the New Building movement from the period 1920-40 because of its significance for the development of modern architecture.
