Inleiding
WONING gebouwd in 1909 in opdracht van het Ministerie van Justitie en gebouwd voor de apotheker. Ontwerp, woningtype VII, van W.C. Metzelaar. Naamsaanduiding verdwenen. Tuininrichting gewijzigd door aanleg terras.
Omschrijving
Sober en functioneel maar met aandacht voor ambachtelijke details gebouwd vrijstaand woonhuis met verdieping, gepleisterde bakstenen opbouw met gemetselde banden en gedekt door een zadeldak met pannen. Windveren en eenvoudig geprofileerde goot. Indeling bepaald door lichtgetoogde 6-ruits schuiframen (deels gewijzigd) met persiennes en verdiepingsvensters; natuurstenen vensterbanken met daaronder gemetselde blokken. Entree in zijgevel. Twee kleinere zoldervensters in de topgevels. Aanbouw met plat aan noordzijde.

Sober and functional but with attention to crafted details, built freestanding residential house with upper storey, plastered brick construction with brick bands and covered by a gabled roof with tiles. Wind vanes and simply profiled gutter. Layout determined by light-arched 6-pane sash windows (partly altered) with blinds and upper-storey windows; natural stone window sills with ashlar blocks below. Entrance in side gable. Two smaller attic windows in the gable ends. Extension with flat roof on north side.
Evaluation
Essential component of the exceptionally valuable area Veenhuizen and architecturally, typologically and urban-planning-wise significant. Intact.
