Inleiding
DIRECTEURSWONING, gebouwd in 1859 in opdracht van het Ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken. Tevens zijn van belang de symmetrische aanleg van de oprijlaan, de groenbeplanting (met 'overtuin', tuinaanleg doorlopend aan overzijde van het kanaal) en de twee gietijzeren lantaarns uit 1855 van Corn. Nolet, Schiedam. Het gebouw heet in de volksmond 'Klein Soestdijk'.
Het interieur is voor de bescherming van ondergeschikt belang. Omschrijving
Evenwijdig en markant aan de Kolonievaart gelegen royaal woonhuis met vleugels gebouwd in een statige en functionele stijl. Opgetrokken op een rechthoekig grondplan en gedekt door een met pannen belegd afgeknot schilddak met vier hoekschoorstenen met kappen; geprofileerde daklijst met gietijzeren goot. Gepleisterde voor- en zijgevels met plint, regelmatig ingedeeld door lichtgetoogde 6-ruits schuiframen met persiennes en geprofileerde lijst. Boven de gedeeltelijk gewijzigde ingangspartij met paneeldeur met houten omlijsting en bovenlicht bevindt zich een dakkajuit. Achtergevel met bakstenen opbouw; erker met openslaande deuren; keldervenster met diefijzers. Zijaanbouw met gietijzeren goot op klossen. De rechterzijvleugel is omstreeks 1915 uitgebreid met een gang en erker; de linkervleugel diende als koetshuis met stal en heeft staldeuren en halfronde vensters.
