Inleiding
SCHUTSLUIS aangelegd in 1900 ter verbetering van de in 1823 gegraven Kolonievaart. De plannen zijn ontwikkeld door de Hoofd-ingenieur van Rijkswaterstaat J. Strootman. De inmiddels vrijwel verdwenen giet- en smeedijzeren bewegingswerken zijn vervaardigd door ijzergieterij G.J. Wispelwey & Co. uit Zwolle. De schutsluis is thans in gebruik als stuw. Het betonnen element dat daartoe in de kolk is aangebracht valt buiten de bescherming.
Omschrijving
Sober en functioneel uitgevoerde schutsluis met ovale kolk. De sluiswanden en de aanhechting met de wal zijn opgetrokken uit basaltblokken en, evenals de sluishoofden, afgezet met natuurstenen dekplaten. De bakstenen sluishoofden met schotbalksponningen bieden plaats aan de giet- en smeedijzeren bewegingswerken en de plaatijzeren sluisdeuren. Op de sluisdeuren staan bewegingswerken voor de schuiven. Aan weerskanten van de sluis zijn remmingswerken aangebracht.
Waardering

Introduction
LOCK constructed in 1900 to improve the Kolonievaart dug in 1823. The plans were developed by the Chief Engineer of Rijkswaterstaat J. Strootman. The now virtually disappeared cast and wrought iron operating machinery was manufactured by iron foundry G.J. Wispelwey & Co. from Zwolle. The lock is now in use as a weir. The concrete element introduced into the lock chamber for this purpose falls outside the protection.
Description
Soberly and functionally executed lock with oval chamber. The lock walls and their attachment to the bank are constructed of basalt blocks and, as are the lock heads, finished with natural stone coping plates. The brick lock heads with sluice-beam sockets provide space for the cast and wrought iron operating machinery and sheet iron lock gates. On the lock gates are operating mechanisms for the sluices. Braking structures have been installed on either side of the lock.
