Inleiding
De omstreeks 1860 gebouwde BOERDERIJ is van het krimpen-type met langsdeel. Van dergelijke akkerbouwboerderijen staan nog enkele aan de Hoofdvaartsweg, maar dit exemplaar heeft dankzij de hoog opgaande voorsprong en de monumentale kap de meeste allure en is derhalve zeer representatief voor het type. Hoewel de boerderij geen agrarische functie meer heeft is de oorspronkelijke hoofdvorm gehandhaafd en is ook nog een deel van de originele erfbeplanting aanwezig. Het oorspronkelijk links naast de boerderij staande bakhuis is in de jaren tachtig gesloopt.
Omschrijving
De boerderij heeft een woonhuisgedeelte met een avant-corps met verdieping en een met riet gedekt zadel-/schilddak met aan de achterzijde een uilebord. De kap heeft aan de voorzijde geschulpte windveren met pijnappels aan de hangende hoekstijlen. De boerderij is opgetrokken in een in staand verband gemetselde schone baksteen vanuit een rechthoekige plattegrond en heeft aan de voorzijde een hoog opgaand avant-corps met staafankers, drie rechtgesloten zesruitsvensters onder strek op de begane grond, twee rondboogvensters met vorktracering en bovenraamomlijsting op de verdieping en een rond, eveneens omlijst oeil de boeuf op de zolderverdieping. Het linker parterrevenster behoorde bij een opkamer, waarvan ook het kelderraam met rechtgesloten, getralied venster onder rollaag nog aanwezig is. Dit staat in de zijgevel van de voorsprong, onder een blind rechtgesloten venster met strek. Het verdiepingsvenster hierboven is waarschijnlijk niet oorspronkelijk. De rechterzijde van dit bouwdeel heeft op de begane grond een venster als in de voorgevel en op de verdieping een klein venster onder rollaag. In de terugliggende gevelpartij rechts van het risaliet staan niet- originele baanderdeuren onder korfboog met sluit- en aanzetstenen. De rechter zijgevel behoort geheel bij het bedrijfsgedeelte met doorrit en is voorzien van staafankers en rechtgesloten vensters met tralies onder rollaag. De achtergevel is geheel vernieuwd en voorzien van rechtgesloten baanderdeuren. Het gedeelte links van de voorste deur inde linker zijgevel is ooit ook vernieuwd en is voorzien van een gepleisterde plint en een niet oorspronkelijke gevelindeling. Loodrecht op het oorspronkelijke, voorste gedeelte van deze zijgevel (deel uitmakend van het woongedeelte) staat een muur met deur, die oorspronkelijk was verbonden met het afgebroken bakhuis, waarvan nog slechts een muurrestant over is. De twee vensters aan de voorzijde, links van het avant-corps zijn als de overige vensters op de begane grond. De kap van het bedrijfsgedeelte is een gangbare sporenkap op ankerbalkgebinten.
Waardering
De karakteristieke boerderij is ondanks enkele wijzigingen van architectuurhistorische en cultuurhistorische waarde als representatief voorbeeld van een in deze vorm niet zo veel voorkomend boerderijtype. Het heeft tevens landschappelijke waarde en is van belang als schakel in de ontwikkeling van de landelijke bouwkunst in de provincie Drenthe.

The FARMHOUSE built around 1860 is of the krimpen type with a side section. Several such arable farming farmhouses still stand on the Hoofdvaartsweg, but this example has, thanks to its high projecting front section and monumental roof structure, the most allure and is therefore very representative of the type. Although the farmhouse no longer has an agricultural function, the original main form has been retained and part of the original boundary planting is still present. The bake house originally standing to the left of the farmhouse was demolished in the eighties.
Description
The farmhouse has a dwelling section with an avant-corps with first storey and a reed-covered saddle/hipped roof with a catslide at the rear. The roof structure has scalloped wind braces with pineapples at the hanging corner posts at the front. The farmhouse is constructed in clean brick laid in running bond from a rectangular floor plan and has on the front a high projecting avant-corps with corner pilasters, three flush six-light windows under a string course on the ground floor, two round-arch windows with forked tracery and transom surround on the first storey and a round, similarly surrounded oeil de boeuf on the attic storey. The left ground-floor window belonged to a parlour, of which the basement window with flush, barred window under a rolled joint is also still present. This is located in the side facade of the projection, under a blind flush window with string course. The first-storey window above is probably not original. The right side of this section has on the ground floor a window as in the front facade and on the first storey a small window under a rolled joint. In the recessed facade section to the right of the risalite are non-original barn doors under a basket arch with stepped and joggled stones. The right side facade belongs entirely to the business section with carriage passage and is provided with corner pilasters and flush windows with grilles under rolled joints. The rear facade has been entirely renewed and provided with flush barn doors. The section to the left of the front door in the left side facade has once been renewed and is provided with a rendered plinth and a non-original facade arrangement. Perpendicular to the original, front section of this side facade (forming part of the dwelling section) is a wall with a door, which was originally connected to the demolished bake house, of which only a wall remnant remains. The two windows on the front, to the left of the avant-corps are like the other windows on the ground floor. The roof of the business section is a common roof truss structure on tie-beam trusses.
Valuation
The characteristic farmhouse is, despite some alterations, of architectural-historical and cultural-historical value as a representative example of a farmhouse type that does not occur very frequently in this form. It also has landscape value and is important as a link in the development of rural architecture in the province of Drenthe.
