Inleiding
Pand, oorspronkelijk gebouw als HERENHUIS gebouwd in neo-renaissancistische stijl in opdracht van (tekst gevelsteen): Jonkheeren Frans, Harco en Willem Rengers HoSiccama sept 1878. De vader van de jonkheren, Wiardus Hora Siccama, huisde in het nabijgelegen eveneens van rijkswege beschermde Huis Oosterbroek (Oosterbroek nr.5) op welk terrein het huis is gelegen. In de nabijheid stond tot 1990 een koetshuis. Het gebouw, inmiddels in bezit van de Stichting Nieuw-Hooghullen, werd in 1971 verbouwd en uitgebreid volgens een plan van het architectenbureau J. Boelens N.V. uit Assen. De bijgebouwde vleugels en de verbouw van de westelijke gevel vallen buiten de bescherming.
Omschrijving
Herenhuis gebaseerd op een rechthoekige plattegrond met twee bouwlagen, opgetrokken in baksteen en gedekt door een dubbel zadeldak met zakgoot bedekt met pannen; schoorstenen in de nok; jonger te dateren eenvoudige goot op klossen. De gevels worden geleed door een gemetselde plint; waterlijst op gemetselde console zwaar gepleisterd lijstwerk rond vensters; rondvensters (waarvan twee met een 4-ruits klaverbladvormige roedeverdeling) in de trapgevels. De voorgevel is symmetrisch opgebouwd met een risaliserende ingangspartij met trapgevel; natuurstenen stoep; dubbele paneeldeur met van snijwerk voorziene middenstijl en glas-in-lood; bovenlicht; fries onder de goot. In de gevels enkele gietijzeren sierroosters.

Building, originally built as GENTLEMAN'S HOUSE in neo-Renaissance style commissioned by (foundation stone text): Jonkheren Frans, Harco and Willem Rengers HoSiccama sept 1878. The father of the Jonkheren, Wiardus Hora Siccama, was resident in the nearby equally nationally protected House Oosterbroek (Oosterbroek no. 5) on the grounds of which the house is situated. The building, now in the possession of the Stichting Nieuw-Hooghullen, was rebuilt and extended in 1971 according to a plan by the architectural firm J. Boelens N.V. from Assen. Gentleman's house based on a rectangular floor plan with two storeys, constructed of brick and covered by a double saddle roof with roof valley covered with tiles; chimneys in the ridge; more recently dated simple gutter on consoles. The facades are articulated by a brick plinth; drip moulding on brick console heavily plastered moulded work around windows; round windows (of which two with a 4-pane trefoil-shaped glazing bar arrangement) in the stepped gables. The front facade is symmetrically composed with a projecting entrance section with stepped gable; natural stone stoep; double panelled door with carved work on the centre mullion and leaded glass; fanlight; frieze under the gutter. In the facades some cast-iron ornamental grilles.
