Omschrijving

Description
Designed in 1931-34 according to the principles of the Nieuwe Bouwen by J.A. Brinkman and L.C. van der Vlugt on commission of H.J. Bouve, entirely DETACHED DWELLING HOUSE. It is composed of cubic building volumes, all covered by a flat roof with very modest overhang, with a maximum building height of three storeys, whereby on the ground floor the facades are somewhat set back and on the upper storeys balconies and roof terraces are provided, built with a partially exposed steel skeleton construction and entirely flat white rendered concrete walls on an unrendered plinth, broken through by large windows, which are distributed over the facades either coupled or individually and based on a fixed proportional module. The entrance is located on the east side, entirely to the right in a specially built porch, for the rest the facade is almost entirely occupied by rectangular glass panes, which on the upper storeys are set back for the benefit of balconies arranged as loggias, with railings executed in glass and steel. The most southern bay contains two storeys, for the benefit of a roof terrace at the height of the second storey, which contains two bays; the south facade is entirely provided with glass panes on the ground floor and on the upper storey with a blank wall. The west facade is broken through on the top storey by a low horizontal window row, likewise on the ground floor; furthermore on the north side up to half-height the semi-cylindrical projection of the stairwell is located, with vertical window strip. Apart from a small horizontal window strip in the middle, the north facade contains for the rest virtually no articulation. Dwelling house by virtue of its overall architectural and technical design - notwithstanding subsequently made alterations in conflict with the original architecture in exterior and interior - as a representative example of the Dutch contribution to the Nieuwe Bouwen from the period 1920-40 of general importance due to its significance for the development of modern architecture. Dwelling house of importance by virtue of architectural-historical value.
