Designed according to the principles of the Nieuwe Bouwen in 1928-32 by J.A.Brinkman and L.C. van der Vlugt on commission of J.Sonneveld, entirely DETACHED RESIDENTIAL HOUSE with DOUBLE GARAGE. It is composed of cubic building volumes with on the ground floor a set-back facade on the front (W), a maximum building height of three storeys and a roof terrace and a corner balcony, arranged around the SE corner at the first floor and two balconies on the E side, whereby each component is covered by a flat roof with very modest overhang, and constructed with a steel skeleton - which is expressed in the visible columns supporting the overhanging upper structure, creating correspondence with the work of Le Corbusier - with entirely plastered walls, on the ground floor clad with tiles, concrete walls, which are pierced by windows set in narrow steel frames with vertical glazing bars, which are harmoniously distributed across all facades, sometimes coupled then again independent, with a format based on a fixed proportional measure. The entrance - a steel door with small circular window - is located on the N side far right under the overhang; to the left of it is the stairwell, marked by an elongated window section, interrupted at the floors, as well as a service entrance with canopy; the left half of the facade is further articulated by a horizontal window strip on the first floor, the low extension of the double garage on the E side and the partly resting on it originally intended as servants' quarters extension, on the first floor, whereby the facade on the second floor is continued eastward over half the width, with rounded side, as it were as a wind screen for the terraces arranged on the east side on the roof of the servants' quarters and second floor. The S side is taken up below almost entirely by glass surfaces - arranged on W and E sides - and contains on the overhanging section of the floors a closed parapet, while the right half is dominated by the balconies protruding beyond the facade, which on the W side have an open balustrade with steel tube railing and on the S side a closed concrete parapet which is continued on the E side on the second floor and which at the first floor is interrupted by the steel spiral stair to the garden. The E facade further contains large window strips, both at the left situated, such as loggia-fitted balconies and at the middle section, with which the eastward extended service wing with entirely closed south facade contrasts sharply.
