MARIA-BEELD. Wit beschilderd stenen Maria-beeld op het voorplein uit de tweede helft van de 19e eeuw, met gekruiste armen, het gelaat naar beneden gewend. Voorts toont het beeld Maria staande op een halve maan, die haar kuisheid verbeeldt, met de linkervoet op slangekop, als symbool van het kwaad dat overwonnen wordt. Het beeld rust op een vierkante zandstenen sokkel met driepassen op de zijden.
Beeld en sokkel werden waarschijnlijk ter plekke opgesteld toen Blumenthal onderdak bood aan de Dames du Sacre Coeur.

Description
MARY STATUE. White painted stone Mary statue on the forecourt from the second half of the 19th century, with crossed arms, the face turned downward. Furthermore the statue shows Mary standing on a half moon, which represents her chastity, with the left foot on a snake's head, as a symbol of the evil that is overcome. The statue rests on a square sandstone base with trefoils on the sides.
Statue and base were probably erected on site when Blumenthal provided shelter for the Dames du Sacre Coeur.
