The register's description

GATE SECTION, BALUSTRADE AND FORMER BRIDGE. Gate section and red brick balustrade, consisting of a double wrought-iron carriage gate with superstructure, two double side sections, six rectangular Namur stone block piers with cornice and profiled projecting superstructures and a red brick balustrade on either side of the gate section. This central gate section is positioned at right angles to the main axis at the front of the house and dates partly from the end of the 18th century and partly from circa 1850 or the second half of the 19th century. The two centrally located piers, which together with the remaining piers flank the gate and side sections, are composite. Apart from the left pier, the superstructures of the piers are provided with a small rectangular Namur stone base, on which vase-shaped superstructures were originally positioned. One of these original Namur stone superstructures now serves as a chamfered stone for the middle piers. On the two central piers is now a small vase-shaped iron superstructure from the second half of the 19th century. The piers step back in pairs from the centre of the gate section towards the sides. Furthermore, the piers taper in pairs from the centre of the gate section towards the sides. This baroque symmetrical stepping back and tapering of the piers on either side of the main axis enlarges the spatial effect of the composition of the gate section and draws attention to the wrought-iron gate and composite piers located in the centre of the composition. This baroque perspective effect is further supported by the wrought-iron side sections, which rise from the sides towards the centre via shallow opposing arches. The wrought-iron side sections on the sides, which also serve as side entrances, consist of spindled gates with, at the bottom of each gate, a section with interwoven ovals. The wrought-iron side sections on either side of the carriage gate, which also consist of spindled gates, swing forward in a quarter-circle shape and rest on a Namur stone base that is also curved forward in a quarter-circle shape. The central double spindled gate is provided with a superstructure of two curved rails. The lower rail shows on its upper side a continuous series of wrought-iron tridents with at its heart the coat of arms of the Congregation of the Dames du Sacre Coeur, consisting of a sheaf of wheat with two eagles' heads turned towards the sides. The upper rail is crowned in the centre by a round iron glazed lantern. The central gate probably dates from circa 1850 or from the second half of the 19th century, when the present driveway was laid out. The side sections date from the end of the 18th century.

Adjacent on either side of the gate and the piers is a red brick wall with Namur stone coping, which is articulated by 8 (left) and 14 (right) Namur stone block piers into bays. This wall on either side of the central gate section is provided with a wrought-iron superstructure with arrow-point-shaped spindles. This spindled gate is not shown on two drawings from the first half of the 18th century of Blumenthal viewed from the front and was installed after 1848, when the Dames du Sacre Coeur established themselves at Blumenthal. At that time the Namur stone block piers were also heightened. At the level of the gate, the wall on either side curves upward in an arch to connect with the piers of the central gate section. In the end bay of the left balustrade is a 19th-century spindled gate.

Adjacent to the park side of the carriage gate is a paved former bridge over the former ditch arm at the front of the country estate, which was filled in and levelled circa 1850 or in the second half of the 19th century.
