Inleiding.
Voormalig modemagazijn van de firma Lijnkamp op de hoek van de Dagelijkse Groenmarkt en de Nieuwstraat, gebouwd in 1910 naar ontwerp van de architect L.A.H. de Wolf in de stijl van de Weense Sezession. Uitvoerder was de aannemer J.P.J. Lorrie. Omschrijving.
Winkelpand bestaande uit vier bouwlagen en een lager deel aan de Nieuwstraat ter breedte van twee vensterassen onder een omlopend door leien gedekt schilddak; karakteristieke afgeronde hoekpartij. Langs de Nieuwstraat is het pand over twee vensterassen slechts twee bouwlagen hoog onder een zelfstandige kap. De gevel van het hoge deel langs de Nieuwstraat telt vijf, de gevel langs de Groenmarkt twee vensterassen. Het pand is opgetrokken als een ijzeren skeletbouw; de gevels zijn bekleed met natuursteen en vertonen tegen de pilasterachtige muurdammen rijk beeldhouwwerk, onder andere maskerkoppen. De brede, hoge vensters bezitten houten kozijnen en roeden; de vensters van de vierde bouwlaag zijn getoogd. De daklijst ter hoogte van de vierde bouwlaag is boven de rechte gevelgedeelten segmentvormig omhooggevoerd en wordt daar gedragen door voluutconsoles. Boven de muurdammen bevinden zich natuurstenen bekroningen. Het dak, met aan de zijde van de Groenmarkt een houten dakkapel, bezit op de hoek een smeedijzeren sierbekroning en op de uiteinden van de nok pirons. De kap van het twee bouwlagen tellende bouwdeel in de Nieuwstraat heeft twee houten, brede dakkapellen.
Het pand behoort tot de periode van ruim tien jaar waarin L. de Wolf een groot aantal panden bouwde in de stijl van de Weense Sezession, direct volgend op zijn studie aan de Akademie der Bildende Kunste in Wenen (1897-1899). Waardering.
Het pand is architectuurhistorisch van waarde als voorbeeld van de Wiener Sezession-stijl met een functionele constructie van glas, natuursteen en ijzer. Hoofdvorm, detaillering en het toegepaste materiaal zijn gaaf. Tevens van belang binnen de ontwikkeling van het oeuvre van L.A.H. de Wolf. The facade of the high section along the Nieuwstraat comprises five, the facade along the Groenmarkt two window bays. The premises is erected as an iron skeletal frame; the facades are clad with natural stone and display rich sculptural work against the pilaster-like wall piers, including mask heads. The broad, high windows possess wooden frames and glazing bars; the windows of the fourth storey are arched. The roof cornice at the height of the fourth storey is curved upwards above the straight facade sections and is supported there by scroll corbels. Above the wall piers there are natural stone ornaments. The roof, with a wooden roof dormer on the side of the Groenmarkt, possesses on the corner a wrought iron ornamental crowning and at the ends of the ridge iron cresting. The premises belongs to the period of roughly ten years in which L. de Wolf built a large number of premises in the style of the Wiener Sezession, directly following his study at the Akademie der Bildende Kunste in Vienna (1897-1899). Valuation.
