Omschrijving
POMPHUISJE. Ornamenteel onderkelderd in rode baksteen opgetrokken pomphuisje, gelegen aan de entree naar het park op de as van de Hommerter allee. Onder het huisje een zeven meter diepe stenen waterput met buizensysteem voor de distributie van water naar de buitengracht. Het huisje, dat zich voordoet als een ornamenteel wachtershuisje of kiosk is gebouwd op vierkante grondslag en is overkapt door een hoog opgetrokken afgeplat met leien gedekt schilddak (maasdekking) met vier pijnappels op de hoeken. Aan de hoeken van de gevels zijn omgaande hardstenen blok-pilasters aangebracht, die worden afgesloten door een fries met trigliefen en een kroonlijst (tevens gootlijst) met eierlijst. Tussen de pilasters onder de kroonlijst een stenen sierband met voluten. Aan de oprit(Z-)- en NW-zijde van het huisje, dat omgaande van een hardstenen voeting is voorzien, een groep van twee segmentboog-vormige vensters met 6-ruitsvensters met diefijzers in een ornamentele mergelomlijsting met guirlandes aan de onderzijde. Centraal aan de ZW- en NO-zijde een deur in een ornamentele stenen omlijsting, die aan de bovenzijde naar opzij rechthoekig uitzwenkt. Centraal op de verdieping aan deze zijden een ornamentele loden dakkapel met rond 4-ruitsvenster. De dakkapel wordt bekroond door een loden voluutvormig ornamentstuk en is aan de onderzijde van guirlandes voorzien. Het pomphuisje dateert uit het einde van de 19e eeuw en werd wellicht omstreeks 1886 gebouwd, toen centraal aan de parkzijde van de hoofdvleugel van het kasteel een monumentaal bordes werd gebouwd.

Description
PUMP HOUSE. Ornamental partly-cellaried pump house constructed in red brick, located at the entrance to the park on the axis of the Hommerter allee. Beneath the building a seven-metre-deep stone water well with piping system for the distribution of water to the outer moat. The building, which presents itself as an ornamental gatehouse or kiosk, is built on a square plan and is covered by a high hipped roof with slate covering (Maas covering) with four pineapples at the corners. At the corners of the façades continuous sandstone block-pilasters are applied, which are terminated by a frieze with triglyphs and a cornice (also gutter moulding) with egg moulding. Between the pilasters below the cornice a stone ornamental band with volutes. On the access ramp (S) and NW side of the building, which is provided all around with a sandstone base, a group of two segmental-arch windows with 6-pane windows with glazing bars in an ornamental marl frame with garlands at the bottom. Centrally on the SW and NE sides a door in an ornamental stone frame, which projects rectangular to the side at the top. Centrally on the upper storey on these sides an ornamental lead roof dormer with a round 4-pane window. The roof dormer is crowned by a lead scroll-shaped ornamental piece and is provided with garlands at the bottom. The pump house dates from the end of the 19th century and was possibly built around 1886, when a monumental flight of steps was built centrally on the park side of the main wing of the castle.
