Inleiding.
Herenhuis op rechthoekige plattegrond uit 1881 in eclectische stijl, gebouwd door de metselaar en aannemer C.M. van Vianen als onderdeel van een vrijstaand ensemble van drie herenhuizen.
Omschrijving.
Rechter hoekpand van een symmetrisch ontworpen groep van drie eclectische herenhuizen, waarvan het middelste pand, Van de Spiegelstraat 16, als risaliet is uitgevoerd.
Het gebouw is opgetrokken in schoon metselwerk met langs de hoofdgevel cordonlijsten tussen de bouwlagen, die deze gevel horizontaal geleed. Het pand bestaat uit drie hoge bouwlagen en een kapverdieping in het schilddak en is drie vensterassen breed. De oorspronkelijke deur is gesitueerd in de rechter vensteras. De houten vensters in de voorgevel zijn T- en H-vensters; op de parterre schuifvensters, op de verdiepingen naar binnen draaiende stolpramen. Voor de vensters van de eerste en tweede verdieping zijn gietijzeren raamhekken gesitueerd. De kroonlijst is van hout en in het fries zijn panelen en terracotta consoles aangebracht in neo Lodewijk-XVI stijl. Ter hoogte van de kapverdieping is een dakkapel met gebogen fronton. De zijgevel heeft een gesloten karakter.
Waardering.
Herenhuis van architectuurhistorisch belang als goed gedetailleerd voorbeeld van eclectische woonhuisarchitectuur. Als onderdeel van een vrijstaand, symmetrisch opgezette groep van drie herenhuizen heeft het tevens een belangrijke ensemblewaarde.

Right corner building of a symmetrically designed group of three eclectic gentleman's houses, of which the central building, Van de Spiegelstraat 16, is executed as a risalit.
The building is constructed in fair-faced brickwork with string courses along the main facade between the storeys, which articulate this facade horizontally. The building consists of three high storeys and a storey in the roof space within the hipped roof and is three bays wide. The original door is situated in the right bay. The wooden windows in the front facade are T- and H-windows; on the ground floor sash windows, on the upper floors inward-opening casement windows. In front of the windows of the first and second floors are situated cast-iron window grilles. The cornice is of wood and in the frieze are panels and terracotta consoles applied in Neo-Louis XVI style. At the level of the roof storey is a dormer with a curved pediment. The side facade has a closed character.
