Inleiding.
Herenhuis uit 1899 in overgangsarchitectuur op rechthoekige plattegrond naar het ontwerp van J. Mutters, gebouwd in opdracht van de familie Wirtz. Het pand is opgenomen in de straatwand met aaneengesloten bebouwingOmschrijving.
Dit herenhuis uit 1899 is in een internationaal georienteerde overgangsstijl met Art Nouveau decoratie's vormgegeven. Het wordt door een rijk gedecoreerd smeedijzeren hekwerk, dat in dezelfde stijl is uitgevoerd, van de straat gescheiden.
Het pand bestaat uit souterrain, beletage, twee verdiepingen en een zolder onder een met pannen gedekte, samengestelde kap en is twee traveeën breed; een smalle rechtertravee en een brede linkertravee. De rechter travee heeft over twee bouwlagen een halfronde erkeruitbouw. Hierboven kraagt de zolderverdieping uit. Deze rust op consoles en eindigt in een puntgevel. De gevel is in schoon metselwerk opgetrokken met hardstenen sierbanden en vensteromlijstingen. De topgevel heeft banden in hardsteen die een imitatie van vakwerk oproepen. De ingangspartij is getoogd en heeft een deels in natuursteen uitgevoerde omlijsting, dat de deur, zij- en bovenlicht verenigt. This town house from 1899 is designed in an internationally oriented transitional style with Art Nouveau decoration. It is separated from the street by richly decorated wrought iron railings, which are executed in the same style.
The building consists of basement, mezzanine, two storeys and an attic under a roof clad with tiles, with composite roof truss structure and is two bays wide; a narrow right bay and a wide left bay. The right bay has a semicircular bay projection over two storeys. Above this the attic storey projects out. This rests on consoles and ends in a pointed gable. The facade is constructed of ashlar with hardstone decorative bands and window surrounds. The top gable has bands in hardstone which evoke an imitation of timber-framing. The basement is clad with hardstone and displays Art Nouveau sculpture.
The entrance composition is arched and has a surround partly executed in natural stone, which unites the door, side light and fanlight. Both the door, the ornamental metalwork and the stained glass of the entrance composition are executed in Art Nouveau. Above the entrance composition is a facade stone with decorative painting and the year built anno 1899. The sgraffito decoration with plant motifs in the gable top that was once applied has disappeared.
