De huidige brug vervangt een eerdere versie op dezelfde locatie, namelijk waar de Vechtdijk de uitmonding van het Zwarte Water in de Vecht kruist.
De brug is van historisch belang.

Characteristically sited 18th-century arched bridge with railings with cast-iron balusters.
The current bridge replaces an earlier version on the same site, namely where the Vechtdijk crosses the outlet of the Zwarte Water into the Vecht.
