Een van een combinatie van twee vrijwel gelijktijdig gebouwde 17e eeuwse huizen met twee bouwlagen, een zadeldak evenwijdig aan de straat en kelders.
Deze twee huizen zijn ontstaan tijdens de 17e eeuwse vernieuwingsgolf, waarbij de veelal bescheiden bebouwing op de achtererven van het kapittel van Sint Jan vervangen werd door royalere zelfstandige woonhuizen.
Voorstraat 61 is een geheel onderkelderd tweebeukig huis van twee lagen. De voorgevel met geblokte strekken boven de vensters is in de 19e eeuw gepleisterd. De achtergevel heeft nog de oorspronkelijke geprofileerde bakstenen gootlijst en op de verdieping, in de 19e eeuw vermaakte, kruiskozijnen. De kelder bestaat gedeeltelijk uit twee ribloze kruisgewelven en deels uit troggewelven op zware balken. In deze kelders zijn nog restanten van de volledige wandbekleding met tegels met afbeeldingen van kinderspelen aanwezig.
Het casco bestaat verder uit moer- en kinderbalklagen met geprofileerde sleutelstukken. De balkrichting is op de beganegrond anders dan op de verdieping. De kap op het voorhuis loopt over Voorstraat 59 door en bestaat uit grenen spanten. De kap van het achterhuis van Voorstraat 61 is rond 1965 vervangen door een plat dak.
Hele pand is van architectonische en bouwhistorische waarde.

Description
One of a combination of two virtually contemporary 17th-century buildings with two storeys, a gabled roof parallel to the street and basements.
These two buildings were created during the 17th-century renewal wave, whereby the often modest buildings on the rear plots of the chapter of Sint Jan were replaced by more spacious independent residences.
Voorstraat 61 is an entirely basementes two-aisle building of two storeys. The front facade with banded projections above the windows was plastered in the 19th century. The rear gable still has the original moulded brick cornice and on the storey, cross windows altered in the 19th century. The basement consists partly of two ribless cross vaults and partly of segmental vaults on heavy beams. In these basements remains are still present of the complete wall cladding with tiles depicting children's games.
The structural shell otherwise consists of principal and secondary beam layers with moulded key pieces. The beam direction is different on the ground floor than on the storey. The roof on the front building runs over Voorstraat 59 and consists of pine roof trusses. The roof of the rear building of Voorstraat 61 was replaced around 1965 with a flat roof.
The whole building is of architectural and historical importance.
