Omschrijving
Een in aanleg 17e eeuwse brug over de stadsbuitengracht, langs het bolwerk Lepelenburg.
Deze brug, behorend bij de toegangsweg tot de Maliepoort (1637), bestond oorspronkelijk uit twee gemetselde brughoofden,waartussen een houten brugdeel.
Het houten deel kon in tijden van gevaar worden verwijderd.
In 1833 werd de houten brug in het kader van de plantsoenaanleg door J.D. Zocher vervangen door een grote gemetselde boog. Ook het ijzeren hekwerk op een natuurstenen plint dateert uit de vorige eeuw.
De brug draagt haar huidige naam sinds 1637, ingegeven door de aanleg van de Maliebaan.
De Maliebrug is van belang als een van de weinige oude bruggen over de stadsbuitengracht.

Description
A 17th-century bridge in construction over the town outer moat, alongside the Lepelenburg bastion.
This bridge, belonging to the access route to the Maliepoort (1637), originally consisted of two masonry bridge abutments, between which was a timber bridge section.
The timber section could be removed in times of danger.
In 1833 the timber bridge was replaced as part of the park development by J.D. Zocher with a large masonry arch. The iron railings on a natural stone plinth also date from the previous century.
The bridge has borne its current name since 1637, inspired by the construction of the Maliebaan.
The Maliebrug is important as one of the few old bridges over the town outer moat.
