Centraal op het voormalige Sassenpoortsbolwerk (thans Van Nahuysplein) gelegen FONTEIN, geschonken in 1892 door de Zwolsche burgerij aan burgemeester Mr W.C.Th. van Nahuijs, ter gelegenheid van diens 25-jarig ambtsjubileum. De fontein, die staat in een vierlobbig natuurstenen bekken, is vervaardigd uit een, rond een frame van constructie-ijzer aangebrachte, zink legering. Het geheel is uitgevoerd is uitgevoerd in zware neo-barokke vormen en is opgebouwd uit een onderbouw - bestaande uit vier consoles met vazen, waartussen vier mengvaten, en een bovenbouw - in de vorm van een kandelaar met driehoekig voetstuk met satire- en leeuwekoppen, schacht met festoen, schotel en naaldvormige bekroning. Description
FOUNTAIN centrally located on the former Sassenpoortsbolwerk (now Van Nahuysplein), donated in 1892 by the citizenry of Zwolle to burgomaster Mr W.C.Th. van Nahuijs, on the occasion of his 25-year jubilee of office. The fountain, which stands in a four-lobed natural stone basin, is manufactured from a zinc alloy applied around a framework of structural iron. The whole is executed in heavy neo-baroque forms and is built up from a base - consisting of four corbels with vases, between which four mixing vessels, and a superstructure - in the form of a candelabrum with triangular base with satyr and lion heads, shaft with festoon, bowl and needle-shaped crown. On the sides the inscription: 1867 5 october The Citizenry of Zwolle to their burgomaster W.C.Th. van Nahuijs 1892.
