Inleiding
WOONHUIS in oorsprong 19e eeuws, rond 1935 in huidige verschijningsvorm gebouwd in de hoek van het Van Nahuysplein, het voormalige Sassenpoortbolwerk aan de zuidkant van de oude stad. In de architectuur komt de heroriëntatie op het traditionele Hollandse huis, die in de bouwperiode opgeld deed, op treffende wijze tot uitdrukking. De keuze van het huistype, en die van de materialen en hun bewerking (schoon werk, blanke lak) zijn daarvoor kenmerkend.
Omschrijving
Woonhuis van twee bouwlagen met aangebouwde garage (NW), opgetrokken in bruine baksteen onder een met rode Hollandse pannen gedekt zadeldak. Op het dak drie gemetselde schoorstenen met afdekplaten. De houten kruisvensters met glas-in-lood ramen hebben blank gelakte kozijnen, hardstenen lekdorpels en strekken met hardstenen aanzet- en sluitstenen. In de drie-assige voorgevel (ZW) vijf vensters en in de linkertravee een houten deur met tweetreeds hardstenen stoep onder luifel, geflankeerd door gemetselde pilasters en met hardsteen afgedekte muurtjes. Boven de luifel een gemetselde rondboog waarbinnen een tweelichtsvenster en timpaan met hardstenen relief met zeilschip. De geveltop met baksteen vlechting en siermetselwerk langs de rand, uitmondend in een hardstenen topje. In de top een tweelichtsvenster, oeil de boeuf en hijsbalk.
Links (W) dubbele garagedeuren onder een rondboogvenster met radiale roedenverdeling en een goot op klossen. De rechter zijgevel (ZO) met vorenspringend geveldeel onder schildkap. Aan de linkerzijde aan deze gevel (Z) een gemetseld balkon op gemetselde pijlers. Deuren op de begane grond onder halfrond bovenlicht met radiale roedenverdeling. In de achter- en linker zijgevel vensters en een deur als omschreven.

Description
Dwelling house of two storeys with attached garage (NW), built in brown brick under a gabled roof covered with red Dutch tiles. On the roof three brick chimneys with coping plates. The wooden cross windows with stained-glass panes have clear lacquered frames, ashlar sills and extend with ashlar abutment and closing stones. In the three-bay facade (SW) five windows and in the left bay a wooden door with two-step ashlar stoep under a canopy, flanked by brick pilasters and with ashlar-capped walls. Above the canopy a brick arch containing a two-light window and tympanum with ashlar relief with sailing ship. The gable top with brick patterning and ornamental brickwork along the edge, terminating in an ashlar finial.
On the left (W) double garage doors under a semicircular arch window with radial glazing bars and a gutter on corbels. The right side facade (SE) with projecting gable section under a hipped roof.
