HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG. In de aanleg van Goudestein is nog een belangrijk element bewaard, dat aan de tijd van het park in landschapsstijl op Goudestein voorafgaat; aan de Vechtzijde bevindt zich het gaaf bewaarde jaagpad, dat vanouds tot de aanleg van Goudestein behoort. De sloot tussen het jaagpad en de plaats vertoont deels een oeververdediging van gestapelde dakpannen.
De geschiedenis van het park in landschapsstijl op Goudestein gaat terug tot in de eerste helft van de 19e eeuw. Mogelijk kwam deze aanleg tot stand in de periode 1808-1836, toen Goudestein in het bezit was van Jhr Mr Joan Huydecoper. Aan de Vechtzijde van het huis werd een open ruimte geschapen waarin solitairen in een landschappelijk verband werden geplant. Als zodanig zijn twee eiken langs de zuidgevel van het bouwhuis, twee eiken op het jaagpad even ten zuiden van het smeedijzeren hek naar de Vecht en en solitaire eik aan de zuidgrens van deze open ruimte ten noordwesten van een vijverpartij in landschapsstijl belangrijke elementen van de 19e-eeuwse aanleg in landschapsstijl van dit gedeelte. Voorts is deze bewaard gebleven ruimte ten westen van het huis aan de Vecht als historische groenzone van belang; de invulling van deze ruimte met een rozarium en met diverse heesters en bomen vond in recente jaren plaats en is voor de bescherming van ondergeschikte betekenis.
Aan de zuid- en zuidoostzijde van het huis werd het nog bestaande door slingerpaden doorsneden parkbos aangelegd met eik, es, beuk, iep en kastanje, deels als solitair en deels in 'parkbos-verband'. Aan de noordwestzijde van dit deel van de aanleg werd de huidige vijverpartij in landschapsstijl met eilandje uitgegraven.
Oorspronkelijk was er vanuit het huis een gezicht over een ruim gazon naar het oosten gecreeerd, naar de Diependaalsedijk, waar de entree over land van Goudestein is gelegen. Het genoemde parkbos, dat aan de zuidoostzijde van het ovaalvormige voorplein naar het noorden toe neigt, werkte hierbij als coulisse, evenals de nog bestaande 19e-eeuwse solitairen (eik, kastanje, beuk, plataan) aan de noordzijde van het gazon. In oostelijke richting eindigde dit gezicht op het in de noordoosthoek van Goudestein aan de Diependaalsedijk gelegen door slingerpaden doorsneden kleine parkbos in landschapsstijl (eik, beuk, kastanje), dat deel uitmaakt van de 19e-eeuwse aanleg. Dit gezicht vanuit het huis in oostelijke richting werd in deze eeuw met coniferen dichtgeplant, waardoor de structuur van het park in landschapsstijl aan deze zijde werd ontwricht. Als zodanig is deze beplanting van coniferen, die het voorplein geheel van de ten oosten hiervan gelegen partij isoleert, voor de historische aanleg van ondergeschikte betekenis. Dit geldt ook voor de boom- en heesterbeplanting ten westen van parkbos in de noordoosthoek van Goudestein, die na de Tweede Wereldoorlog plaats vond, voor het kleinschalige patroon van slingerpaden, dat deze beplanting doorsnijdt en voor het rechte verloop van de oprijlaan van het aan de Diependaalsedijk gelegen smeedijzeren hek naar het voorplein; op de Topografische en Militaire kaart uit 1898 is te zien, dat de oprit in die tijd nog in een flauwe curve verliep.

HISTORICAL GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT. In the layout of Goudestein an important element has been preserved that predates the period of the landscape-style park at Goudestein; on the Vecht side there is the well-preserved towpath that has traditionally belonged to the Goudestein layout. The ditch between the towpath and the location shows in part a bank reinforcement of stacked roof tiles.
The history of the landscape-style park at Goudestein dates back to the first half of the 19th century. This layout may have come about in the period 1808-1836, when Goudestein was in the possession of Jhr Mr Joan Huydecoper. On the Vecht side of the house an open space was created in which solitary trees were planted in a landscape setting. As such, two oaks along the south facade of the main building, two oaks on the towpath just south of the wrought-iron gate to the Vecht and a solitary oak at the southern boundary of this open space to the northwest of a pond feature in landscape style are important elements of the 19th-century landscape-style layout of this section. Furthermore, this preserved space to the west of the house at the Vecht is important as a historical green zone; the filling of this space with a rose garden and with various shrubs and trees took place in recent years and is of secondary importance for protection.
On the south and southeast side of the house the still existing park wood traversed by winding paths was laid out with oak, ash, beech, elm and chestnut, partly as solitary trees and partly in 'park wood setting'. On the northwest side of this part of the layout the present pond feature in landscape style with an island was excavated.
Originally from the house a view was created over a spacious lawn towards the east, towards the Diependaalsedijk, where the land entrance to Goudestein is located. The aforementioned park wood, which tends towards the north at the southeast side of the oval-shaped forecourt, functioned as a scenic backdrop, as did the still existing 19th-century solitary trees (oak, chestnut, beech, plane tree) on the north side of the lawn. In the eastern direction this view ended at the small landscape-style park wood traversed by winding paths located in the northeast corner of Goudestein at the Diependaalsedijk (oak, beech, chestnut), which forms part of the 19th-century layout. This view from the house in the eastern direction was in this century densely planted with conifers, whereby the structure of the landscape-style park on this side was disrupted. As such, this conifer planting, which completely isolates the forecourt from the section located to the east thereof, is of secondary importance for the historical layout. This also applies to the tree and shrub planting to the west of the park wood in the northeast corner of Goudestein, which took place after the Second World War, to the small-scale pattern of winding paths that intersects this planting and to the straight course of the driveway from the wrought-iron gate located at the Diependaalsedijk to the forecourt; on the Topographic and Military map from 1898 it can be seen that the approach at that time still ran in a gentle curve.
