The register's description

HOOFDGEBOUW.

MAIN BUILDING. Main building constructed in red brick on a square ground plan, roofed with a surrounding gabled roof, which encloses a centrally located gabled roof, covered with grey tiles. On each of the corners of the surrounding gabled roof a square brick chimney with smoke hood. On each of the corners of the facades of the main building a brick block pilaster. The facades are provided with a cornice above which on the Vecht (west) side and east side an attic is placed, consisting of alternating bays with panel-form boarding and bays with baluster-form spindles.

The house was built in the 1750s on behalf of Sophia Maria Agatha van der Muelen, widow of Mr. Jan Huydecoper. A hardstone plaque on the lower left side of the Vecht facade states the following text: "Willem Huydecoper Aged 10 years and 8 MONTHS. laid the first stone of this building. On the 5th October OF the year 1754". Around 1800 the house was provided with Empire sash windows. These were replaced during the restoration of the house, which took place in 1960 (after which the house has been in use as a town hall since 1961), by copies of 18th-century sash windows.

Vecht side: gable section with central projection with two window bays on either side. On the piano nobile in the central projection the entrance section, which is accessed via a hardstone flight of 10 steps, the sides of which curve outwards in an arc, is reached. The flight is closed off on either side by a wrought-iron balustrade with baluster-form spindles in Louis XVI style. The entrance section consists of a double four-pane door with fielded panels (door installed during restoration in 1960) with semicircular fanlight with two diagonal glazing bars, framed by pilasters with Ionic capitals - placed against a band with block motif - and a cornice. Centrally in the fanlight a half-projecting lantern. To accentuate the central section the window on the first floor is framed by a richly carved cornice in Louis XV style, two side pieces curving downwards and panel-form boarding, which forms a connection with the moulding of the entrance section and the framing of the window on the first floor. On this boarding an alliance coat of arms of Jhr Mr J. Huydecoper (1821-1890) and Jkvr J.L.R.A. Ram, applied in the 19th century.

On either side of the flight at basement level two double windows with shutters (now) with 16-pane division. On either side of the entrance section two sash windows (now) with 45-pane division. On the first floor 5 sash windows (now) with 35-pane division. In the cornice 5 mezzanine windows with vertical 5-pane division.

East side: facade divided into 5 window bays with centrally at basement level the entrance section consisting of a panel door with 4-pane window framed by block pilasters and cornice, providing access to the lower house. To the right of this two double windows with shutters (now) with 16-pane division and to the left a panel door with 9-pane fanlight (left) and a double window with shutters (now) with 16-pane division (right). Piano nobile: 5 sash windows (now) with 45-pane division. First floor: 5 sash windows (now) with 35-pane division. Second floor in the cornice 5 mezzanine windows with 5-pane division. Second floor: 3 mezzanine windows with vertical 5-pane division. Attic floor: a half-round roof dormer (now) with a double window with 16-pane division, with two quarter-circle fanlights and on either side a wing curving downwards.

To the right of this a window with identical pane division. On the second floor 3 mezzanine windows with 5-pane division. On the attic a roof dormer as on the south side of the house. Interior: on the piano nobile on the axis a corridor with stuccoed walls and ceiling in Louis XV style and the floor of which is covered with white marble slabs. On the right side of this two rooms with panel wainscoting and framing of former wall hangings from the 18th century and with stucco ceilings, fireplace and chimney breasts in Louis XV style. The windows of the room on the Vecht side are provided with window shutters with panels. Centrally on the left side of the corridor the staircase with railings of yew. With respect to the detailing of the service stair in the SE corner of the house a derivative of the main stair.
