Introduction

FARM COMPLEX consisting of:

- FARMHOUSE, built at the end of the eighteenth century with gable detailing dating from the nineteenth century (probably 1846). The farmhouse, built in traditional craft style, is of the hall-house type with a central longitudinal section and an attached barn wing (tail).

- STOVE HUT located on the south side next to the dwelling house and built in a traditional craft style.

- PIG STY to the north of the farmhouse. Built in a traditional craft style.

- Detached OUTBUILDING on the rear courtyard built in traditional craft style.

The buildings were constructed in a traditional craft style and originally date from the end of the eighteenth century. Around 1846 the complex acquired its present size and main form. In 1981 the complex was converted to a restaurant by order of J.J. Vierstra according to a plan by building firm Koeling from Dwingeloo. Noteworthy is the yard arrangement with cobblestone paving around the farmhouse, oaks, linden trees in front of the dwelling house and a hedge along the Hoogeveenseweg.

Description

- Farmhouse with barn and transversely placed front dwelling house. The dwelling house, based on a rectangular ground plan, is built in brick and is covered by a hipped roof with old Dutch tiles; two chimneys with caps; simple gutter on corbels. The gable composition is characterized by slightly arched fifteen-pane sash windows; cellar windows in both side gables. The symmetrically arranged front gable has in the middle a wide panelled door with nailer, above it a half window with moulding and a carved fanlight (arrow motif). The barn has a construction with anchor beam trusses and is covered with thatch (woven ridge and hip). Rear gable with right-angled closing boards and adjacent passage door with nine-pane fanlight; stable door. Side gables with right-angled closing manure doors and half-round cast-iron stable windows (fork tracery). The southern side gable is irregularly arranged.

The attached tail, coupled via an intermediate section, has a partly mortared base and is built in potdeck-covered wooden sections for the rest. The whole is covered by a thatched hipped roof with woven ridge and hip.

- Stove hut based on a rectangular ground plan and built in brick. On the south side with a stepped gable. The three-sided hipped roof is tiled with old Dutch tiles. In the side gable there are, among others, right-angled nine-pane windows.

- Based on a rectangular ground plan and built in brick, barn covered by a hipped roof with old Dutch tiles. Some slightly arched windows and right-angled closing manure doors (divisible).

- Barn based on an L-shaped ground plan with some projections, covered by an L-shaped hipped roof covered with thatch. Construction with anchor beam trusses in the plane of the gable. The gables of the northern section have a mortared base with buttresses and a potdeck-covered upper structure. The section running in a southern direction (probably a later extension) has entirely potdeck-covered sections.
