Omschrijving
BORSTWERING MET HEKKEN. Rode bakstenen borstwering, die de erfafscheiding van Akerendam naar de ZO-zijde en deels naar de NW-zijde vormt. De borstwering wordt aan de ZW-zijde door de 3-zijdig vooruitspringende koepel doorbroken, verloopt aan de ZW-zijde van de koepel nog een stukje en gaat dan haaks in noordwestelijke richting om. De muur wordt door koud gemetselde pilasters in vakken geleed. Aan de bovenzijde is de borstwering door elkaar alternerend terug- en vooruitspringende kop-stenen in enkele lagen waarboven een naar voren springende strekkenlaag afgesloten en wordt bekroond door een ezelsrug. De muur is vermoedelijk in de 19e en begin 20e eeuw tot stand gekomen, maar bevat eveneens fragmenten van 18e-eeuws en wellicht 17e-eeuws muurwerk. De borstwering wordt door een eenvoudig smeedijzeren spijlenhek van omstreeks de laatste eeuwwisseling beëindigd. Aan beide aanzetten van de halfcirkel-vormige oprit wordt de muur onderbroken door een dubbel smeedijzeren spijlenhek met vleugelstukken met spijlen. De hekken worden geflankeerd door twee boogsgewijs uitzwenkende bakstenen muren met hardstenen afdekplaat, die aan weerszijden door bakstenen pijlers worden begrensd. De pijlers zijn van een hardstenen pyramide-vormige bekroning met ingezwenkte vlakken voorzien. Als zodanig dateren de smeedijzeren hekken, boogvormige muren en de pijlers vermoedelijk uit het begin van deze eeuw. Op de dagkant van de hardstenen afdekplaat van het linker hek op de rechter boogvormige muur de inscriptie: AKERENDAM. Het gedeelte van de borstwering tussen beide inrijhekken wordt door enkele samengestelde pijlers met hardstenen pyramide-vormige bekroning onderbroken. Wellicht markeren deze pijlers de ligging van de kleine bouwhuizen, die oorspronkelijk ter weerszijden van de vroeger op de as van het huis gelegen oprijlaan waren gelegen.

Description
BREAST WALL WITH GATES. Red brick breast wall, which forms the boundary of Akerendam towards the SE side and partly towards the NW side. The breast wall is broken on the SW side by the 3-sided projecting pavilion, continues on the SW side of the pavilion for a short distance, and then turns at right angles in a northwesterly direction. The wall is divided into bays by cold-laid pilasters. At the top, the breast wall is finished off by alternating recessed and projecting stretcher courses in several layers topped by a forward projecting course and is crowned by a saddle back. The wall probably dates from the 19th and early 20th century, but also contains fragments of 18th century and possibly 17th century masonry. The breast wall is terminated by a simple wrought-iron railings fence from around the last turn of the century. At both ends of the semicircular drive, the wall is interrupted by a double wrought-iron railings gate with winged sections with railings. The gates are flanked by two arched outswinging brick walls with hardstone coping, which are bounded on either side by brick piers. The piers are provided with a hardstone pyramid-shaped coping with recessed planes. As such, the wrought-iron gates, arched walls and piers probably date from the early years of this century. On the face side of the hardstone coping of the left gate on the right arched wall the inscription: AKERENDAM. The section of the breast wall between both entrance gates is interrupted by several composite piers with hardstone pyramid-shaped coping. These piers probably mark the location of the small lodge houses, which were originally situated on either side of the former entrance drive that lay on the axis of the house.
