Hoofdgebouw Vondelschool.
Achterwaarts aan een plein gesitueerd schoolgebouw, hoofdonderdeel van de Vondelschool. De rondboogvormige ingangspartij bevindt zich excentrisch in de grotendeels gesloten, horizontaliserende, onderbouw, waarachter het grotendeels glazen, verticaliserende, bouwvolume - ter verlichting van het interne trappehuis - oprijst, waarop rechts, geaccentueerd door een verticale strook van blauw geglazuurde tegels, de hoogopgaande, in zwarte baksteen uitgevoerde, schoorsteenpartij aansluit.
Noordelijk bevindt zich de twee bouwlagen tellende, L-vormige hoofdvleugel, die op halve diepte aan de oostzijde hoger is opgetrokken en op de kop wordt afgesloten door een verticaliserend bouwvolume, waarop haaks de lage, westelijke dwarsvleugel van zeven traveeën is geprojecteerd, in oorsprong bestemd als fietsenstalling voor de naburige, aan de Jonkerstraat gesitueerde, school uit 1903.
De westgevel wordt doorbroken door horizontale vensterstroken met prismatische, met blauw geglazuurde tegels uitgevoerde, muurdammen onder doorgaande, witte luifels, overgaand in het middenblok, waarbij op de verdieping een koperen luidklok is aangebracht aan een met blauw geglazuurde tegels beklede, onder de luifel uitstekende, dwarsbalk, en op de beganegrond bij de ingang een dwarsmuur op de vijf treden tellende stoep; de ingangspartij is voorzien van een met oranje geglazuurde, in staande rollagen gemetselde, stenen gevulde boognis, waarvan het bovendeel is uitgevoerd in blauwgeglazuurde stenen.
De oostgevel bevat op beide verdiepingen elk twaalf klaslokaalvensters met verdeelde bovenlichten en ongelede benedenramen, evenals de zuidgevel van de oostelijke, een bouwlaag hoge, dwarsvleugel, die een klaslokaal bevat en aan de oost- en noordzijde blind is, uitgezonderd de onderverdeelde vensterpartij rechts in de kopgevel op de verdieping.
Aan de zuidzijde bevindt zich de achterwaarts gerooide, doch door middel van een gemetselde plantenbak-ommuring met het linkerdeel verbonden, vleugel met onderkelderde gymnastiekzaal en onder stompe hoek aansluitend, lagere westelijke dwarsvleugel, bestemd als berging bij de hoek de trap naar de kelder-ingang. De westgevel van het gymnastiekzaalgedeelte bevat een viertal horizontale keldervensters en direct onder de dakluifel een horizontaal onderverdeelde, tienvenster-assen brede, raampartij die bij de zuidgevel is omgezet over vier venster-assen boven de lagere, door zes smalle vensters doorbroken, dwarsvleugel. In de zuidgevel voorts een aparte ingang naar de gymnastiekzaal met stoep.
De vrijwel blinde oostgevel is geintegreerd met die van het middenblok, alwaar onder een omgezette dakluifel de kamer van het schoolhoofd is uitgebouwd, voorzien van twee verdiepte vensters met onderverdeling en een inwaartse sprong op de noordoosthoek. In de overigens gesloten oostgevel van het middenblok bevindt zich tevens een neven-ingang.

Main building Vondelschool.
School building situated behind a courtyard, principal component of the Vondelschool. The semicircular entrance section is located eccentrically in the largely closed, horizontalizing base, behind which the largely glazed, verticalizing building volume rises—for the lighting of the internal stairwell—upon which to the right, accentuated by a vertical strip of blue glazed tiles, the tall chimney section executed in black brick adjoins.
To the north is situated the two-storey, L-shaped main wing, which is raised higher on the east side at mid-depth and is terminated at the end by a verticalizing building volume, onto which at right angles the low western transverse wing of seven bays is projected, originally intended as bicycle storage for the neighboring school situated on the Jonkerstraat from 1903.
The west facade is broken through by horizontal window strips with prismatic, executed with blue glazed tiles, wall dams under continuous white canopies, transitioning into the central block, whereby on the upper floor a copper bell is mounted on a transverse beam clad with blue glazed tiles, protruding under the canopy, and on the ground floor at the entrance a transverse wall on the five-tread step; the entrance section is provided with a stone-filled arch executed with orange glazed tiles in standing courses, the upper part of which is executed in blue-glazed stones.
The east facade contains on both storeys twelve classroom windows each with divided fanlights and solid lower sashes, as does the south facade of the eastern, one-storey high, transverse wing, which contains a classroom and is blind on the east and north sides, except for the subdivided window section on the right in the gable on the upper floor.
On the south side is situated the wing demolished to the rear, but connected to the left section by means of a mortared planter box enclosure, with undercellared gymnasium and adjoining at an obtuse angle, lower western transverse wing, intended as storage with the staircase to the cellar entrance at the corner. The west facade of the gymnasium section contains four horizontal basement windows and directly below the roof canopy a horizontally subdivided, ten-window-axis wide, window section which is converted at the south facade over four window axes above the lower transverse wing broken through by six narrow windows. In the south facade moreover a separate entrance to the gymnasium with a step.
The virtually blind east facade is integrated with that of the central block, where below a converted roof canopy the headmaster's room is extended, provided with two recessed windows with subdivision and an inward step at the northeast corner. In the otherwise closed east facade of the central block there is also a secondary entrance.
