The register's description

OFFICERS' PAVILION for the housing of officers, built in three phases. The left wing is the oldest part and was built in 1878. It contained the director's rooms and eight rooms with alcove for the officers. The second phase, the right wing, was completed in 1880. The central section forms the third phase and is from after the turn of the century, built in 1917. The architecture does not directly reveal that the total building was realized in three phases. The original wooden verandas were closed in during the 1930s and the zinc grooved roof was replaced by a bituminous roof covering. The building belongs to the first phase of the artillery shooting range (1878-1885), forms together with the other buildings an architectural whole and constitutes its focal point. The buildings from the time of the laying out of the shooting range stand in the same direction and in a line.

Left wing: The left wing has timber-framed facades with brick infilling in two colours. Plastered plinth with hard stone blocks with fine chiselling at the level of the stiles. Under a surrounding wooden drip moulding the fields are plastered grey. At the top the facade is terminated with a surrounding frieze of 'St Andrew's crosses'. The overhanging gabled roofs are clad with a bituminous roof covering. The overhangs are supported by wooden consoles. On front and rear sides a closed veranda. Above in the transversely placed pavilion a window with fanlight (division 1x3/1x3+(2x1)). In the east facade a double window. Originally a conservatory was located here. The gable end is clad with wooden sections on the south side.

Right wing: The same as the left wing with the exception of the west and north facades of the end pavilion. On the west side the pavilion is plastered grey with imitation mortar joints, which are meant to suggest natural stone blocks, against moisture penetration, and against this a veranda has been built. The north side has coloured brickwork, the yellow stone is missing here. In the side facade of the pavilion on the upper floor a window (division 2x3/2x3).

Central section: Square building mass of two storeys with roof truss. Gabled roof with a bituminous roof covering. Attached to this on both sides a wing of one storey with roof truss, terminated by transversely placed pavilions of two storeys with roof truss. Brick facades with a plastered plinth. On front and rear sides a wooden veranda over two storeys, closed with a brick breast rail and coupled windows with fanlight. In the gable ends, above the conservatory, a round window with a floral motif. The gable ends and long facades are clad with wooden sections under the roof overhang. The roof gutter trimming has a scalloped edge.

By its great length and symmetrical composition of the long facades, as well as the virtually all-round, low veranda extension, the building makes an impressive and stately impression, also because of the raised central section. In that this building too is designed in a timber-framed framework, it determines, together with buildings nos. 213 and 215, a characteristic feature for the building method of the time at the shooting range. The building is thereby the most important component of the historical layout of this camp. The free visibility on the north side, as well as the landscaping with tree stock, especially on the south side support the prominent location of this property. Moreover, the building stands out because of its well-preserved proportions, special construction and use of materials, and already has rare building details. Furthermore, it represents a well-preserved example of timber-framed construction and keeps the history of the Artillery Shooting Range visible. This unique building, valuable from a historical and architectural point of view, is of general importance because of the historical memories associated with it, its prominent beauty and special significance for architecture and historical science.

Building 236 'officers' housing' is of importance both because of its location and because of its connection with the other structures and autonomous architectural and cultural-historical values as an evident monument of more recent building construction.
