Omschrijving
V.m. Stadhuis. Rechthoekig bakstenen bouwwerk, bestaande uit een laat-gotische benedenverdieping (1501) met in de door natuurstenen banden verlevendigde voorgevel geprofileerde en geblokte spitse ontlastingsbogen op consoles en een verdieping uit 1601, waarin in de voorgevel een breed venster, samengesteld uit zes gekoppelde houten kruiskozijnen. Tegen de rechter zijgevel een zeshoekige traptoren, waarvan het bovenste gedeelte in vereenvoudigde vorm is herbouwd bij de ingrijpende restauratie van 1889-1890 door de architect J. van Lokhorst. Rijke met natuurstenen sierdelen uitgevoerde trapgevel, gedateerd 1614, met obelisken, voluutstukken op de trappen, leeuwenmaskers, cartouches, gecanneleerde bakstenen pilasters en kraagstenen. Bovenstuk, waarin een nieuw Justitiabeeld, bij de restauratie weer aangebracht in vormen, die afwijken van de tekening door De Beijer uit 1749. Jaartalsteen: 1616, afkomstig van de gesloopte Rietvelderpoort. Op de rechter hoek een natuurstenen schandpaal. In het stadhuis op de verdieping een bij de restauratie uit oude onderdelen van diverse herkomst samengestelde schouw met gebeeldhouwde caryatiden (1630) en een gesneden kap. Voorts een gesneden tochtportaal met houten Justitiabeeld (1610). In het voorhuis een collectie fragmenten van laat-gotische sculptuur met resten van polychromie, opgegraven in 1930 bij de toren der Grote Kerk en afkomstig uit deze kerk; vier kraagstenen met schildhoudende engelen, drie koppen van heiligenbeelden waarvan een verenigd met de bijbehorende figuur, een romp van een Christusbeeld met kop afkomstig uit een Heilig Graf en een Ecco Homo waarvan de kop beschadigd is, met doornenkroon. Voorts enige fragmenten van apostelbeelden.

Description
Former Town Hall. Rectangular brick structure, consisting of a late-Gothic lower storey (1501) with profiled and blocked pointed relieving arches on consoles in the front facade enlivened by natural stone bands, and an upper storey from 1601, with a broad window in the front facade composed of six paired wooden cross windows. Against the right side facade a hexagonal staircase tower, of which the upper section was rebuilt in simplified form during the major restoration of 1889-1890 by architect J. van Lokhorst. Richly decorated stepped gable executed with natural stone ornamental details, dated 1614, with obelisks, volute pieces on the steps, lion masks, cartouches, fluted brick pilasters and brackets. Upper section with a new Justice statue, reinstated during restoration in forms differing from the drawing by De Beijer of 1749. Date stone: 1616, from the demolished Rietvelderpoort. At the right corner a natural stone pillory. In the town hall on the upper storey a chimney-piece assembled during restoration from old components of various origin with carved caryatids (1630) and a carved hood. Furthermore a carved entrance portal with wooden Justice statue (1610). In the entrance hall a collection of fragments of late-Gothic sculpture with traces of polychromy, excavated in 1930 at the tower of the Great Church and originating from that church; four brackets with shield-bearing angels, three heads of saint figures of which one combined with the corresponding figure, a torso of a Christ figure with head from a Holy Sepulchre and an Ecce Homo of which the head is damaged, with crown of thorns. Furthermore some fragments of apostle figures.
