Gloriette (onderdeel 2)
Inleiding
Uit 1768 daterend THEEHUIS genaamd De Gloriette, tot 1830 behorend bij de op Belgisch grondgebied gelegen buitenplaats Ravenhof en sinds de grenswijziging en afscheiding van België daarvan territoriaal gescheiden. Het theehuis is op een kunstmatige verhoging in een formeel parkbos gelegen, genoemd Moretusbos. De Gloriette is onderdeel van het complex Moretusbos.
Omschrijving
Het zeszijdige rococo THEEHUIS is opgetrokken in baksteen, voorzien van hard- en zandstenen plint, banden, lijsten en ornamenten en afgedekt door een zeszijdig en geknikt koepeldak, belegd met leien en met ornamenten in lood versierd; bovenop het dak een fraai eveneens zeszijdig smeedijzeren hekwerk. De zijvlakken van het theehuis zijn begrensd door bakstenen pilasters; aan vijf zijden bevinden zich hoge rechthoekige vensters en in de zesde zijde is een rondbogige strokendeur aangebracht met aan de bovenzijde een oeil-de-boeuf met cartouche-ornamenten aan de boven-, linker- en rechterzijkant. Boven alle vensters langs loopt een geprofileerde en verkropte hardstenen architraaf-lijst, op de pilasters ondersteund door voluutvormige zandstenen consoles voorzien van een schelpmotief; de gevels worden afgesloten door een eveneens verkropte kroonlijst van hardsteen; op het koepeldak eveneens geprofileerde lijsten op de plaats waar het dak een knik maakt, en aan de bovenzijde. De vensters zijn voorzien van een kleine roedenverdeling en hebben luiken. De ingang heeft een geprofileerde hardstenen omlijsting en hoofdgestel en is georiënteerd op huis Ravenhof. In het interieur een vloer van roodbruine plavuizen waarin een luik, een koepelvormig plafond in zes segmenten met doorzicht naar een houten dakluik waaraan een kroonluchter, en enkele eenvoudige ornamenten in rococostijl. In een wandhoekkast het mechanisme met ijzeren stangen waarmee het dakluik geopend kan worden. Het theehuis is vanaf de parterre toegankelijk via treden in de aangelegde heuvel (zie omschrijving parkaanleg).
Waardering
Het laat 18e eeuwse rococo THEEHUIS De Gloriette is van bijzonder belang door de ouderdom, vormgeving en harmonie van in- en exterieur en situering, alsmede de zeldzaamheid en gaafheid, en als zodanig zowel van cultuurhistorische als architectuurhistorische waarde.

Introduction
A TEA HOUSE named De Gloriette dating from 1768, which until 1830 belonged to the country estate Ravenhof located on Belgian territory and since the border change and separation from Belgium has been territorially separated from it. The tea house is situated on an artificial elevation in a formal park woodland, named Moretusbos. The Gloriette is part of the Moretusbos complex.
Description
The hexagonal rococo TEA HOUSE is constructed of brick, provided with hard stone and sandstone plinth, bands, mouldings and ornaments and covered with a hexagonal and kinked dome roof, tiled with slate and decorated with lead ornaments; on top of the roof a fine hexagonal wrought-iron railing. The side surfaces of the tea house are bounded by brick pilasters; on five sides there are tall rectangular windows and on the sixth side a round-arched glazed door has been installed with an oeil-de-boeuf above it with cartouche ornaments on the top, left and right sides. Above all windows runs a moulded and broken hard stone architrave moulding, supported on the pilasters by scroll-shaped sandstone consoles provided with a shell motif; the facades are finished with a likewise broken cornice of hard stone; on the dome roof likewise moulded mouldings at the point where the roof makes a bend, and at the top. The windows are provided with small glazing bars and have shutters. The entrance has a moulded hard stone surround and pediment and is oriented towards Ravenhof house. In the interior a floor of reddish-brown tiles with a trapdoor, a dome-shaped ceiling in six segments with a view through to a wooden roof light with a chandelier, and some simple rococo-style ornaments. In a corner wall cupboard the mechanism with iron rods with which the roof light can be opened. The tea house is accessible from the ground level via steps in the constructed hill (see description of park layout).
Valuation
The late 18th-century rococo TEA HOUSE De Gloriette is of exceptional importance due to its age, design and harmony of interior and exterior and setting, as well as its rarity and integrity, and as such possesses both cultural-historical and architectural-historical value.
