Mooi aan de Dokkumer Ee en binnen het beschermde dorpsgezicht Birdaard gelegen tweede helft 19e-eeuwse HOUTOPSLAGLOODS, behorende bij de beschermde koren-, pel- en zaagmolen "De Zwaluw" uit 1875.
Even teruggerooid uit hout op gemetselde voet opgetrokken diep gebouw op rechthoekige plattegrond, gedekt door een met pannen belegd zadeldak met klein overstek; in de voorgevel twee hoge deuren met zesruitsschuiframen; dito raam in geveltop; de beide zijmuren blind; in de achtergevel twee zesruitsschuiframen. Aan de voorzijde op verdiepinghoogte een geschulpt houten randje en een houten bord met het opschrift: Houthandel van K. Steenhuisen en Zonen.
Inwendig houten opslagrekken.
Mooi gelegen tweede helft 19e-eeuwse houtopslagplaats van algemeen belang uit een oogpunt van industriele-archeologie en vanwege de historisch-functionele relatie met de beschermde koren-, pel- en houtzaagmolen "De Zwaluw" uit 1875, de belendende beschermde tweede helft 19e-eeuwse houtzagerij met aanvoersloot, balkengat en sleephelling en het beschermde tweede helft 19e-eeuwse houtstek terzijde daarvan.

Description
Beautifully situated on the Dokkumer Ee and within the protected village scene Birdaard, second half 19th-century TIMBER STORAGE BUILDING, belonging to the protected grain-, peel- and sawmill "De Zwaluw" from 1875.
Equally set back and of wooden construction on laid brick foundation a deep building on a rectangular ground plan, covered by a saddle roof laid with tiles with small overhang; in the front gable two high doors with six-pane sash windows; likewise window in gable top; both side walls blind; in the rear gable two six-pane sash windows. On the front side at storey height a sculpted wooden border and a wooden board with the inscription: Houthandel van K. Steenhuisen en Zonen.
Internally wooden storage racks.
Beautifully situated second half 19th-century timber storage place of general importance from the point of view of industrial archaeology and because of the historical-functional relationship with the protected grain-, peel- and sawmill "De Zwaluw" from 1875, the adjacent protected second half 19th-century sawmill with supply ditch, beam hole and drag ramp and the protected second half 19th-century timber shed beside it.
