Omschrijving
In baksteen opgetrokken MUUR, die in de negentiende eeuw is gebouwd als omheining rond het reeds bestaande kerkhof der Nederlands Hervormde Gemeente te Sittard, gelegen tussen de Steenweg en de Wilhelminastraat aldaar, met in deze muur aangebracht acht grafstenen, die dateren uit de zeventiende eeuw.
De bescherming is van toepassing op de plusminus 30 lagen metselwerk en de ezelsrugafdekking van de muur en de toegang vanaf de Wilhelminastraat; deze toegang wordt gevormd door twee vierkante in baksteen gemetselde pylonen, voorzien van vleugelmuren en natuurstenen dekplaten, waartussen een smeedijzeren sierhek, bestaande uit onversierde verticale elementen en voluten aan de onder- en bovenzijde; bovendien strekt de bescherming zich uit over de acht zeventiende-eeuwse grafstenen, die ingelaten zijn in het metselwerk van de kerkhofmuur.
De grafstenen bezitten de volgende kenmerken: (linksomgaand vanaf de toegang tot het kerkhof)
- het grafteken voor Iohannes Lemmens, overleden in 1646, met daarop de initialen I en L, een molensteen in cartouche, vruchttrossen, bladmotieven en bandwerk;
- het grafteken voor Egbert van Zalingen, overleden in 1617, met daarop een wapenschild met huismerk;
- het grafteken voor Maria en Iohannes Fischers, overleden in 1621, met daarop een medaillon waarin een wapenschild met drie vissen;
- het grafteken voor een in 1626 overledene, met daarop een medaillon met de letter H;
- het grafteken voor Martin Rademacher en Van Lentholt zijn huisvrouw, waarop een cartouche met daarin twee wapenschilden (zonder overlijdensdata);
- het grafteken voor Iohan Lull, overleden in 1628, waarop een medaillon met de letters I en L;
- het grafteken voor Lambert van Herf, overleden in 1655, en Elisabeth Abshoven, overleden in 1666, voorzien van een segmentvormig opzetstuk waarin een doodshoofd met beenderen, engelenkopjes, vruchttrossen, een zandloper en een wijzerplaat, familiewapens, alsmede een tussen twee gekapiteelde zuiltjes gevat tekstblok;
- het grafteken voor Frans Lemmens, overleden in 1676, en Catharina Gleins, overleden in 1645, waarop twee familiewapens onder een helmteken met molensteen, en aan de onderzijde een cartouche.
De negentiende-eeuwse kerkhofmuur en de acht daarin aangebracht zeventiende-eeuwse grafstenen zijn van cultuurhistorische waarde en als zodanig een monument in de zin van de wet.

Description
A WALL built of brick, constructed in the nineteenth century as an enclosure around the already existing churchyard of the Nederlands Hervormde Gemeente at Sittard, situated between the Steenweg and the Wilhelminastraat there, with eight gravestones incorporated into this wall, dating from the seventeenth century.
The protection applies to approximately 30 layers of brickwork and the ridge capping of the wall and the entrance from the Wilhelminastraat; this entrance is formed by two square brick-laid pylons, provided with wing walls and natural stone coping stones, between which a wrought-iron ornamental railing, consisting of undecorated vertical elements and volutes at the lower and upper sides; furthermore, the protection extends to the eight seventeenth-century gravestones, which are set into the brickwork of the churchyard wall.
The gravestones possess the following characteristics: (going clockwise from the entrance to the churchyard)
- the gravestone for Iohannes Lemmens, died in 1646, bearing the initials I and L, a millstone in cartouche, fruit clusters, leaf motifs and scrollwork;
- the gravestone for Egbert van Zalingen, died in 1617, bearing a coat of arms with house mark;
- the gravestone for Maria and Iohannes Fischers, died in 1621, bearing a medallion containing a coat of arms with three fishes;
- the gravestone for a deceased person in 1626, bearing a medallion with the letter H;
- the gravestone for Martin Rademacher and Van Lentholt his wife, bearing a cartouche with two coats of arms within it (without dates of death);
- the gravestone for Iohan Lull, died in 1628, bearing a medallion with the letters I and L;
- the gravestone for Lambert van Herf, died in 1655, and Elisabeth Abshoven, died in 1666, provided with a segment-shaped superstructure containing a death's head with bones, cherub heads, fruit clusters, an hourglass and a clock face, family coats of arms, as well as a text block set between two fluted columns;
- the gravestone for Frans Lemmens, died in 1676, and Catharina Gleins, died in 1645, bearing two family coats of arms under a helmet with millstone, and at the lower side a cartouche.
The nineteenth-century churchyard wall and the eight seventeenth-century gravestones incorporated into it are of cultural-historical value and as such a monument within the meaning of the law.
