Omschrijving
Singelbrug. Over de stadsgracht (singel) gelegen in 1908 door de firma W.E. Penning te Kampen vervaardigde, met bomen afsluitbare ophaalbrug.
De val bestaat uit liggers van gewalst balkstaal met houten dek. Bovenbouw opgebouwd uit geklonken samengestelde liggers. Aanbruggen: gemetselde met betonspecie aangesmeerde eenvoudig geprofileerde bogen overgaand in houten beschoeiing.
In de ijzeren balustrade met strak Jugendstil-motief zijn aan elke zijde twee gietijzeren lantaarnpalen met florale motieven opgenomen.
IJzeren ophaalbrug met aanbruggen, remmingswerk, balustrade en vier lantaarnpalen uit 1908, van belang uit een oogpunt van industriële-archeologie en een daaraan gekoppelde functionele, maar verzorgde vormgeving, en vanwege de stedenbouwkundig belangrijke ligging - tezamen met de eveneens beschermde Franekereindsbrug en Oosterbrug - op de kruising van de stadsgracht (singel) en de voormalige trekvaart naar Franeker.

Description
Singelbrug. A bascule bridge with trees that can close it, located over the city moat (singel), manufactured in 1908 by the firm W.E. Penning in Kampen.
The gate consists of rolled steel joist girders with wooden deck. Superstructure built from riveted composite girders. Approach spans: masonry with concrete mortar pointing, simply profiled arches transitioning to wooden facing.
In the iron balustrade with strict Art Nouveau motif are incorporated on each side two cast iron lamp posts with floral motifs.
Iron bascule bridge with approach spans, braking mechanism, balustrade and four lamp posts from 1908, of significance from the perspective of industrial archaeology and an associated functional yet carefully designed form, and because of its important urban planning location - together with the likewise protected Franekereindsbrug and Oosterbrug - at the intersection of the city moat (singel) and the former tow canal to Franeker.
