Omschrijving
Franekereindsbrug. Aan het Franekereind gelegen smalle, met bomen afsluitbare draaibrug, opgebouwd uit geklonken samengestelde ijzeren liggers met een houten rijdek. Draaipijler en landhoofden bestaan uit beton en natuursteen, op palen gefundeerd. Op de brug en landhoofden een ijzeren balustrade met strak Jugendstilmotief, vervaardigd in 1914-1915 door bij de firma R. Koster in Stadskanaal.
IJzeren draaibrug met landhoofden, remmingswerk en balustrade van belang uit een oogpunt van industriële-archeologie en een daaraan gekoppelde functionele, maar verzorgde vormgeving, en vanwege de stedenbouwkundig belangrijke ligging - tezamen met de eveneens beschermde Singelbrug en Oosterbrug - op de kruising van de stadsgracht (singel) en de voormalige trekvaart naar Franeker.

Description
Franekereindsbrug. A narrow drawbridge with trees that can close it, located at the Franekereind, constructed from riveted composite iron girders with a wooden deck. The pivot pier and abutments consist of concrete and natural stone, founded on piles. On the bridge and abutments an iron balustrade with strict Art Nouveau motif, manufactured in 1914-1915 by the firm R. Koster in Stadskanaal.
Iron drawbridge with abutments, braking mechanism and balustrade of significance from the perspective of industrial archaeology and an associated functional yet carefully designed form, and because of its important urban planning location - together with the likewise protected Singelbrug and Oosterbrug - at the intersection of the city moat (singel) and the former tow canal to Franeker.
