Segment van verdedigingswerk vesting Gorinchem, deel uitmakend van de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. Het werk bestaat uit een aanleg van aardwerken, gracht en bijbehorende bebouwing en objecten zoals hierna genoemd.
De aanleg is een onderdeel van de noordelijke verdedigingswal van Gorinchem en omvat een bastion (bastion I), met aarden dam en de natte gracht gelegen voor het bastion.
In de natte gracht bevindt zich een gemetselde stenen beer met twee gemetselde monniken.

Segment of defensive work of fortification Gorinchem, part of the New Holland Water Line. The work consists of an installation of earthworks, moat and associated buildings and objects as named hereafter.
The installation is part of the northern defensive wall of Gorinchem and comprises a bastion (bastion I), with earth dam and the wet moat located before the bastion.
In the wet moat is located a masoned stone cutwaters with two masoned monks.
