Omschrijving
Segment van verdedigingswerk vesting Gorinchem, deel uitmakend van de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. Het werk bestaat uit een aanleg van aardwerken en natte gracht.
De aanleg vormt een onderdeel van de noordelijke verdedigingswal van Gorinchem en omvat de courtine tussen bastion I en bastion II en voorliggende natte gracht.
In de courtine bevindt zich een coupure, bestaande uit twee gemetselde keermuren met schotbalksponningen, ter plaatse van de voormalige Laag-Arkelpoort. In de natte gracht is een dam met duiker gelegen.

Description
Segment of defensive work of fortification Gorinchem, part of the New Holland Water Line. The work consists of an installation of earthworks and wet moat.
The installation forms part of the northern defensive wall of Gorinchem and comprises the curtain between bastion I and bastion II and adjoining wet moat.
In the curtain is a coupure, consisting of two masoned retaining walls with blockage beam seatings, at the location of the former Laag-Arkelpoort. In the wet moat is a dam with culvert located.
