Description

BUILDING, which derives its monumental value exclusively from the front and rear room with entrance, corridor and kitchen, as well as from the yard cellar. House at the corner of Brigittenstraat, dating principally from the 18th century, but with partly still late medieval components. It consists of a hall house with a rear building occupying only half the plot width, containing the kitchen. Beneath the building medieval barrel-vaulted cellars, connected with yard cellars beneath the street and with the bridgehead of the Brigittenbrug. The front house has still preserved walls and portions of the timber construction from the end of the 16th century. On the side of the Nieuwe Gracht a cornice-topped facade of principally late 18th century character with simple door frame and dentil cornice. Windows with partly 18th century frames and sash windows with six- and twelve-light glazing bars. The hipped roof has chimneys with recessed panels on front and rear sides. In the front house a corridor with white marble floor and skirting, a stair with balusters and 19th century chimney mantels.
