VILLA "Rams Woerthe", behorende tot het complex "Rams Woerthe" bestaande uit villa, park en hek, werd in 1898 gebouwd in art nouveau-vormen door de Amsterdamse architect W. van Gendt, in opdracht van Jan Hendrik Tromp Meesters, graanhandelaar te Steenwijk. Sinds 1919 als gemeentehuis in gebruik. De villa is gelegen binnen een park in landschapsstijl ontworpen door Henri Copijn en aangelegd in 1899. De villa heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond, is opgetrokken uit vnl. rood-bruine baksteen op natuurstenen plint, is onderkelderd en bestaat uit twee bouwlagen onder door rode geglazuurde pannen gedekt zadeldak over middengedeelte en dito zadeldaken met afgewolfde toppen over de zijvleugels, waarvan de rechter met traptoren. De gevelvlakken worden verlevendigd door vensters van verschillende afmeting en vorm en door de toepassing van blauw/ groen geglazuurde baksteen en natuurstenen lateien, imposten, consoles etc. Ingangspartij met paddestoel-vormige hardstenen omlijsting, waarbinnen en waarboven gebrandschilderde ramen. De achtergevel, met veranda en erker, is grotendeels witgepleisterd. Aan de linkerzijde een, op een natuurstenen verhoging liggende, houten broeikas; gietijzeren draagconstructie met art nouveau-detaillering. Inwendig op de bel-etage een met wit marmer betegelde hal, overspannen door recht, gedecoreerd stucplafond, rustend op gedrukte bogen met geprofileerde lijsten en stucconsoles met dierfiguren. Eikenhouten trap; witmarmeren schouw met bewerkte stucboezem; eikenhouten, beklede banken en eiken deuren met beslag, alles art-nouveauvormen. De wandvlakken in hal en trappenhuis zijn voorzien van schilderingen van Co Breman en hebben grotendeels betrekking op verbouw, oogst en verwerking van graan. Gebrandschilderde ramen met stadsgezichtjes, figurale en florale motieven door A. le Comte en J. Suhl.

VILLA "Rams Woerthe", part of the complex "Rams Woerthe" consisting of villa, park and fence, was built in 1898 in art nouveau forms by Amsterdam architect W. van Gendt, commissioned by Jan Hendrik Tromp Meesters, grain merchant at Steenwijk. In use as town hall since 1919. The villa is situated within a park designed in landscape style by Henri Copijn and laid out in 1899. The villa has a rectangular floor plan, is built of mainly red-brown brick on a natural stone plinth, is sub-basements and consists of two storeys under a gabled roof covered with red glazed tiles over the central part and likewise gabled roofs with half-hipped ends over the side wings, of which the right one has a stair turret. The facade surfaces are enlivened by windows of varying dimensions and form and by the application of blue/green glazed brick and natural stone lintels, imposts, corbels etc. Entrance section with mushroom-shaped hard stone frame, within and above which stained-glass windows. The rear facade, with veranda and oriel, is largely white-plastered. On the left side a wooden greenhouse situated on a natural stone elevation; cast iron supporting structure with art nouveau detailing. Internally on the bel-étage a hall paved with white marble, spanned by straight, decorated stucco ceiling, resting on depressed arches with profiled mouldings and stucco corbels with animal figures. Oak staircase; white marble fireplace with worked stucco frame; oak-covered benches and oak doors with fittings, all in art nouveau forms. The wall surfaces in hall and stairwell are provided with paintings by Co Breman and largely relate to the cultivation, harvest and processing of grain. Stained-glass windows with city views, figurative and floral motifs by A. le Comte and J. Suhl.
