Synagoge.
Volgens een gedenksteen in de voorgevel gesticht op 4 mei 1865 door de weduwe van Mozes Fortuin en ingewijd op 30 october 1865.
Eenvoudig, maar met gevoel voor detail, in eclectische trant uitgevoerd gebouw, opgetrokken uit baksteen op rechthoekige plattegrond en gedekt door een met pannen belegd schilddak met geprofileerde gootlijst. De gevelvlakken verlevendigd door even uitgemetselde (hoek)pilasters, doorlopende dorpels onder de vensters en de toepassing van een lichtere baksteensoort rond de vensters.
Aardige ingangspartij met dubbele deuren met vierpasmotief, gevat in gepleisterde, gotiserende omlijsting, bekroond met accolade-achtig motief. In de voor- en achtergevel vier hoge rondboogvensters met gietijzeren tracering; in de noordwestgevel twee rondboogvensters beganegronds en twee ronde vensters ter hoogte van de vrouwengalerij, alle met gietijzeren tracering; in de zuid-oostgevel een rondboogvenster met Davidster in gietijzer.
Inwendig nog van belang de via een trap bereikbare vrouwengalerij met aardige balustrade.

Synagogue.
According to a memorial stone in the front facade founded on 4 May 1865 by the widow of Mozes Fortuin and consecrated on 30 October 1865.
A simple, yet meticulously detailed, building executed in eclectic style, built of brick on a rectangular ground plan and covered by a hipped roof tiled with pantiles and furnished with a moulded drip moulding. The facade surfaces enlivened by evenly detailed corner pilasters, continuous sills beneath the windows and the use of a lighter-coloured brick around the windows.
An attractive entrance section with double doors with quatrefoil motif, framed in plastered, gothicising trim, crowned with an ogee-like motif. In the front and rear facades four tall round-arch windows with cast-iron tracery; in the north-west facade two round-arch windows on the ground storey and two round windows at the level of the women's gallery, all with cast-iron tracery; in the south-east facade a round-arch window with Star of David in cast iron.
Internally, the women's gallery, accessible via a staircase, still merits attention, with an attractive balustrade.
Second half 19th-century synagogue (1865) with an attractive entrance section and women's gallery, of architectural-historical and cultural-historical significance on account of the simple yet carefully detailed architectural design and the recollection of the Jewish community of Lochem.
