Omschrijving
RAADHUIS, in 1746 gebouwd als woonhuis van de familie Costerus. Monumentale voorgevel met natuurstenen hoeklisenen en een rijke opgezwenkte bekroning in rocaillestijl, waarop een monnikenbeeld XVIIc, staat, dat van het vorige raadhuis afkomstig is. Gesneden deur met Minervakop in omkranst medaillon en halfrond bovenlicht in Lodewijk XVI-stijl in een omlijsting met ionische pilasters. Stoepleuningen in de vorm van ijzeren slangen, waarvan de kop rust op een hardstenen stoeppaal. Gang met stucwerk, XVIIIc, o.a. reliefvoorstellingen, die de jaargetijden symboliseren. Raadzaal met Lodewijk XIV-schoorsteenmantel (voorzien van schilderstuk, XVIIc) en een Lodewijk XV-stucplafond. Trouwzaal in Lodewijk XV-stijl met rijke deuren, deuromlijstingen, stucplafond en goudleerbehang.

Description
TOWN HALL, built in 1746 as a residential house for the Costerus family. Monumental front façade with natural stone corner lisenes and a rich curved crowning in rococo style, on which stands a monk figure, 17th century, coming from the previous town hall. Carved door with Minerva head in crowned medallion and semicircular fanlight in Louis XVI style in a frame with Ionic pilasters. Step slopes in the form of iron snakes, the head of which rests on a stone bollard. Corridor with stucco, 18th century, including relief representations symbolising the seasons. Council chamber with Louis XIV fireplace mantel (provided with painted panel, 17th century) and a Louis XV stucco ceiling. Wedding room in Louis XV style with rich doors, door frames, stucco ceiling and gilded leather wallpaper.
