Omschrijving
Balanspoort. Midden XIII poortgebouw met dubbele doorgang, overdekt door tongewelven en kruisgewelven met lage gemetselde afgeschuinde ribben. De gevel aan de zijde van de Balans is van baksteen met natuurstenen banden, de poort bekleed met natuursteen. De gevel aan de Abdijplein-zijde is van baksteen met natuurstenen voet. Waterlijst met boogfries, gedeeltelijk voorzien van driepasvulling. De bovengevel is door dammen verdeeld in halfrond eindigende verdiepte velden. Kruisvensters. Zadeldak. Het poortgebouw is toegankelijk via een toren van het rechter belendende gebouw.

Description
Balanspoort. Mid-13th century gatehouse with double passage, covered by barrel vaults and cross vaults with low mortared bevelled ribs. The façade on the Balans side is of brick with natural stone bands, the gate faced with natural stone. The façade on the Abdijplein side is of brick with natural stone plinth. Drip moulding with arch frieze, partly provided with trefoil filling. The upper façade is divided by dams into recessed fields ending in a semicircle. Cross windows. Gabled roof. The gatehouse is accessible via a tower of the adjoining building to the right.
