Omwalling en grachten.
Van de versterkingen van 1619-'25 resten.
Wissedwinger in 1841 met het gedeelte van het Hoeksterbastion ten O. van de Groningerstraatweg verenigd en in plantsoen herschapen. Tevens het water langs het Schavernek en de Potmarge.
Doeledwinger in 1648 als tuin beplant door Stadhouder Willem Frederik en in 1821/4 opnieuw als openbaar park aangelegd door Roodbaard (Prinsentuin) (1821-'24). Oldehoofsterdwinger, in 1843 als Noorderplantage beplant. Lieve Vrouwepoortsdwinger, 1844 als Westerplantage beplant. Buiten de dwingers een gracht.
In de stad water langs Nieuwstad-Naauw, Kelders, Voorstreek, Tuinen, en langs de Weaze deels in 1398 ontstaan.
De bruggen zijn grotendeels gemetselde pijpen doch merendeels in de laatste decennia herbouwd of verbreed. Oorspronkelijk van afmetingen zijn de Brol en de Langepijp.

Wissedwinger in 1841 united with the section of the Hoekster bastion to the east of the Groningerstraatweg and reshaped as a plantation. Also the water along the Schavernek and the Potmarge.
Doeledwinger in 1648 planted as a garden by Stadtholder Willem Frederik and in 1821/4 newly laid out as a public park by Roodbaard (Prinsentuin) (1821-'24). Oldehoofsterdwinger, in 1843 planted as Noorderplantage. Lieve Vrouwepoortsdwinger, 1844 planted as Westerplantage. Outside the dwinger a moat.
In the town water along Nieuwstad-Naauw, Kelders, Voorstreek, Tuinen, and along the Weaze partly created in 1398.
The bridges are largely built with stone arches but mostly rebuilt or widened in recent decades. Of original dimensions are the Brol and the Langepijp.
