Omschrijving
STADHUIS. In 1621 naar ontwerp van Melchior van Herbach en met subsidie van Prins Maurits gebouwd, gerestaureerd in 1910. Rechthoekig gebouw van gele en rode baksteen, met natuurstenen vensterkozijnen, plint, banden, blokken en sierstukken, gedekt door een hoog leien dak tussen twee trapgevels en boven het front, een topgevel. Voor de ingang een bordes. De vensters gedekt door strekken, segment- en korfbogen; in de boogtrommels van de voorgevel natuurstenen cartouche-versieringen. Boven de natuurstenen ingangsboog een cartouche met het stadswapen in omlijsting met fronton-afdekking. De geveltop aan de voorzijde rijk versierd met banden, lijsten en twee sierankers, met vier klauwstukken, twee gebroken frontons, twee obelisken en twee stenen: Anna 1621. In de top een Justitiabeeld op consoles voor een nisvormige omlijsting. Houten goot op klossen (1628). Description
TOWN HALL. Built in 1621 to the design of Melchior van Herbach and with subsidy from Prince Maurice, restored in 1910. Rectangular building of yellow and red brick, with natural stone window frames, plinth, bands, blocks and ornamental pieces, covered by a high slate roof between two stepped gables and above the front a top gable. Before the entrance a flight of steps. The windows covered by stretches, segment and basket arches; in the arch rings of the front gable natural stone cartouche ornamentations. Above the natural stone entrance arch a cartouche with the town coat of arms in frame with pediment cover. The gable top at the front richly ornamented with bands, mouldings and two ornamental wall anchors, with four claw pieces, two broken pediments, two obelisks and two stones: Anna 1621. At the top a Justice figure on consoles before a niche-shaped frame. Wooden gutter on consoles (1628). Under the steps a natural stone small door, and similar small door in the northern and southern side gable.
